I think that this all started because of Sim Stones.
I have a set. I guess that the big question might be... "Is this worth $400?". I wanted to learn how to do readings. I studied many different methods and systems. I can do a pretty good reading with no prompters at all. Some prompters... cards, stones, palms, pendulums, etc. make for interesting story lines. A few years ago, Tony Eye told me about a deck of Tarot cards. I told him that I was going to get one. He said, "Good luck. They are out of print and very rare." Some people have paid more than $500 for these cards. Are they worth that much money? It depends. In the right hands, these will pay for themselves many times over. BUT, the very same "effect" can be accomplished with a $1 deck of cards. And in the wrong hands, the $500 deck will be less effective than the old guy with the dollar deck. There are some things in the Sim Stone manual that are very valuable ideas. Every one of those ideas can be found some place else, but you would have to know where to look or just be lucky. If you are the kind of person who doubts that any good can come from a new system, then you should probably save your money. But if you are looking for a divination system that is different from all of the conventional systems, then this might be right up your alley. I have many effects that cost as much as Sim Stones. I will probably not be in the market to trade my stones. On the other hand, if you have a spare set and would like to trade it for a Phork, I'm your guy. Peace, Parson

Since cold reading requires a considerable amount of practice, perhaps there is an argument, at least for the weak willed, in favor of high priced quality learning materials.

I couldn't remember the classic reading lines at all. It drove me mad until I hit upon a way of remembering them all, and more, really easily. People also get the wrong end of the stick with classic reading lines too - they should be there for use as a springboard, not just to be recited verbatim.

Parson, thanks for the kind comments, I am always happy to hear from more satisfied customers. This is the first and only time I will participate in this thread. I saw it and treat it with a dignified silence many months ago. If someone wants to attack something then they should at least have worked with the system first and those attacks should also be justified and have some credence. If anyone wanted to know any information about the system then a simple PM would have sufficed (as many did and I thank them for that.) Firstly I do not have to justify price, however there are A4 ring bound books with one or 2 magic routines out there that cost the same (or in some cases more than) as this. Heck there's a 4 page manuscript for the same price. You get a lot for your money with my system. The Stones were (are) very expensive to produce, if you actually held a set you'd understand why. They are made (and finished) entirely by hand by an artist / sculptor who charges substantially more for his work when displayed in a gallery. I was in a gift shop only yesterday looking at Pewter keyrings (mass produced) which were 1/3 the thickness of my hand produced stones and they were £7.99 (that's $13.) There are 10, double sided stones in my set, 3 x as thick as this keyring, all hand produced. In short these will last a lifetime and they will earn you money if you use them. As far as the information goes, well it's a course to get you started working psi fairs and parties FROM SCRATCH. If you apply it then they pay for themselves and a lot of the info in there was discovered through blood sweat and tears, do it the hard way if you like, I did and I pass it on in the manual to make it easy for you. Of course you could just spend the same amount of money on a set of fake coins, or cups and balls (which don't come with a comprehensive course and manual with all the insider tips on actually putting them to use to earn good money)... but I don't see anyone posting rants on here saying that they are a waste of money.... From an ethical standpoint, the system stresses that you must display a disclaimer when you work (and there is a copy in the book and online for you to print out) and that you must not give any advice that you are not professionally qualified to give. It also stresses that any readings given are for fun and entertainment purposes only. Some people may choose not to go down this route and I can't force them to, however that is my standpoint and belief, I am sure you all have your own. Secondly it is a hybrid system, it starts off with a memory system to get you started safely, reliably and quickly which then fades into the background as your reading skills take over so no it doesn't require years of study and yes it is a genuine system, not a canned system. This means that after use you will simply be doing readings but also have a solid system to fall back on should you require. In other words you can leave your comfort zone with a safety net should you need it, until you don't need to do that any more. If you are in any doubt then go to the website and check out the reviews from people who actually own and use the thing and while you are there realise that these are people who really know what they are talking about. After all, it's only the people who don't own and use the system that seem to have anything negative to say about it... I'm done with this thread, if anyone wants to know anything, PM me and ask, I am always willing to help. Bri |
