Gallagher,
It is good to hear of folks seeking out information. I hope to continue on my journey of learning and sharing for many years. Some say the best place to hide information (in the past and more so these days) is in print. Used knowledge applied at the right time: Priceless.... On the other side of the coin... To know and not to do, is not to know. I am honored to be able to be asked and to share on this thread. Happy HOYC. (Holiday of your choice.) Harris

Gallagher invited me to share about confidence thru PM, thank you....
I've been doing professional magic for about 10 years, and every time I'm in backstage waiting to be called my self talk always said "U can do it!!...rock and roll" to get me more confidence on stage. So from my opinion, confidence is my thought. It will show's if you are letting it. all you have to do is believe... First, your introduction should be pre-recorded on the same CD, Mini CD or MP3 player as the rest of your music. You ABSOLUTELY MUST have either a remote that you can use to stop and start the music, or someone who can do it for you. Otherwise, it will be a massive mess. I know this from hard personal experience. Even if all you can get is a friend to help you load and unload the show, set your backdrops and run your sound, you will be much better off if you do that. Second, 10 to 15 minutes for two tricks? Jeez! That's slow! Do you mean two tricks or two routines? Third, 10 to 15 minutes -- why so much difference? If you have rehearsed your material, and you are doing it to properly coordinated music, it should last exactly the same amount of time, each time you do the routine. Not 10 minutes today and 15 minutes tomorrow. It's called "doing time." If you are paid to do a 15 minute show, do 15 minutes. If you do less, you are cheating the customer. If you do more, you are showing disrespect for the acts that are following you. Quote:
Both Gene Anderson and I would disagree with you on this one. Record every show you do. An audio recording is fine. Play the recording of the show on the way home from the gig and make mental notes of what should have been different and what happened that you want to make sure happens again. Then play the same recording on the way to the next gig to remind you of what you did right and what you want to do again. If your show is rehearsed to the point you don't have to think about it, then you should know how long your opening bit is. Quote:
This is part of the rehearsal and experience process. BTW, How can you "Post plan." All planning is pre-planning.
