Would you buy anything from this guy?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwRISkyV_B8 That's Vince Offer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vince_Offer He's a writer/director/comedian who turned to pitching kitchenwares after his movie got panned and he suffered a stroke. His "I'm doing you a favor by showing you this!" pitching style has been racking up a lot of sales. Annoying? Yep. Effective? Apparently. Oops... there's a guy wearing a KKK t-shirt at 1:11 in the commercial. They should have caught that in editing. |

This guy is the real deal.
He was apparently a vegetable chopper pitchman before he got into showbiz. He went back to pitching to finance distribution of his movie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underground_Comedy_Movie |

Watch the video, 40-50 seconds, see the soda leaking out the bottom of the carpet? When he picks it up and puts it down, the camera cuts.
What happened to the soda that was just under the carpet? ScamWow!

Gotta love that everything that is bigger than the chopper is already trimmed down to the perfect size. Gosh, I hope that the marks don't read this and figure it out.
At least you can sleep at night when pitching Sven's and worms. You are selling a magic trick, they buy a magic trick. It is not like you demo card magic, you spent years and years learning, and then sell plain decks of cards. I may be wrong, since I'm not out there on the streets. My only experience with pitching, if you would call it that, was showing my "Zibit" at a beer fest. "I'll give you another dollar, if you kiss it. I wanna kiss it! I wanna kiss it!!!" --- drunk girl. The shammy cloths and the chopper are actually decent products.
I've bought early versions of both and they do work. |

"You know you hate making salad, that's why you don't have any salad in your diet."
"Stop having boring tuna, stop having a boring life." "You're gonna love my nuts!" "Opens up lika a butta fly" "This is makin you cry, you're makin me cry" "We're gonna make america skinny again one slap at a time... Read More!" "Fetticinni, linguini, martini , bikini." "If you call now, within the next 20 minutes, cause you know we can't do this all day, we'll throw in the graty!" The ShamWow Infomercial is better. But I still like the guy.

Speaking of Sham-Wow, was at a gun show this past weekend. There were 2 guys there selling shammies. One had a big 4' x 4' sign “Super Shammy” on the front of his table, he was doing demos and selling yellow ones, 2 sets for $20, like the guy on TV.
The other guy had a small sign, maybe 18” by 4”, “Sham-Wow” People would come by his table and say something like, “Are these the ones on TV?” “Yep. Exact same ones, 2 for $15”. He was set up for demos but if he did 5 all weekend, I'd have been surprised. He just sat there, selling those things like CRAZY!! Almost everyone was walking around with some of HIS shammies. He even sold people who'd seen the other guy's demo. The other guy was on commission, so couldn't lower his price without cutting his commission. He finally wound up giving 3 sets for $20. But his were yellow, so I think people were skeptical of his. Really a crazy situation. I'm sure it will slow down eventually but I contacted one of my friends who sells shammies. He says ALL the suppliers are out of stock because of the “Sham Wow” thing. He offered me a bundle of 100 for $100. I thot, “What the heck, just put 'em out and tell 'em it's “Sham-Wow” Don't demo, just sell 'em. There are dozens of 'em on ebay now, most claiming to be “ShamWow”. This guy has really stirred up the water. By the way, I'm doing the worm next weekend. Only I'm calling it “Squir-mee”. We'll see how wonderful I am. Jon |

Good Luck with the worms, Jon!
Just make sure you bring a lot with you, because they should jump right off the table if you demo them well. SETH

Here's a YouTube video where some kid is trying to expose the camera tricks used in the sham wow commercial ... sad, cause the things actually do work. I tried to leave a comment with the above live pitch, but he's done removed it.

I enjoy Vince, and his pitching style. There is something about the way he enthusiastically condescends that really works (apparently). What do you think Don? Are you being too nice?..
Too bad you can't get Svengali decks made in Germany!! |

Looks like he got arrested last month (charges were dropped) for punching a prostitute in his hotel room and "fracturing her face."
