Just bought my first pair of Gingher scissors 7inch dressmaker's shears. These things are awesome! they work like a hot knife through butter. I can't believe how they cut rope.Rope magic will never be the same. Ha Ha Ha.

I have two pieces of advise for you:
1. Never use them for anything except your show, nothing will ruin a good pair of scissors faster than cutting paper with them.
2. Take them to a sharpening service, and have the points ground down for safety purposes.

I have used mine for about ten years, and they have needed absolutely no maintance, so far.

Jo ann has a nice selection of scisors with plastic sheaths, and the sharpening service will charge you $2, or $3 to grind the points.

I posted this in the other scissors thread, but thought I would copy it over to here.

Just thought I would mention that you can find the Gingher scissors at the best price on EBay. I just lucked on one seller who had two pair listed for $14 with $9 shipping. They are not a big priority item so no one else bid on them but me.

Anyway, for a total of $23, I got two pair--That's only $11.50 a pair delivered.
I may have one pair gimmicked, or simply keep them as a spare.

Just type in "Gingher 8" Knife Edge" in the search engine and you will get a lot of hits. There are several different models, and not every seller describes them correctly (like leaving the words "blunt tip" out). However one can simply look at the photo and tell if they are the right ones.

Most sellers are asking about $9 plus $9 shipping for a single pair, and that's not bad, but you may find an even better deal on a couple of pair just as I did.

Cheers
