When you say "linked" as in two circles of rope and a silk in between.
No force on the color, the kid says any color??

That may not be a commercial trick, but merely someone's method. There are several ways to have two ropes "linked" and have a silk in the middle.
You state that there are two ropes. Do you mean "joined" as in two ropes connect into one or two circles of rope link? As in linking ropes or rings? You are not clear as to what you have described. As for the color, there are multiple outs for color selection, if the answer was red (and a fair percentage of kids would say red), then the red silk would appear, if the kid said blue or yellow, I am not sure what would have happened. You imply that a blue silk or yellow would appear, but that may not be the case.

The Linking ropes is featured in my DVD and on the following clips:
http://magicians.podbean.com/dances-with-rope/ This is the standard routine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi9LMKq7tp8 So, linking ropes is an accepted routine, and I sell them on my site. The naming of a silk and the link of a silk on the rope as it links can be done, but I still feel that you may be leaving something out of the puzzle. Did the magician vanish a red silk just before the rope routine? If so, then he may have stated that the red silk is now invisible, which would lead to his asking the child about the color of the invisible silk. That, makes the trick much easier. Then, there are several methods for silk on rope. Last question: Does the silk appear on one of the ropes, or does the silk form a third link between the two ropes?

That's cool, except for the naming of the color, I see that it can be done. I would venture to say that it is someones own creation and to my knowledge is not part of a commercial effect.
Do you have the name of the performer?
