Hi everyone, as a new member to the "floor" here at the Café/and my 1st. post,
Just wanted to say to Mr. Elsdon, thank you again for including me as a receiver of your PDF. IMHO, His variation to this wonderful mystery is simple, clean and gets down to the bottom line. Which I believe is what we all strive for. If anyone is waiting for your copy to be sent to you from Mr. Elsdon you will not be disappointed. Jingle Bells to all! Sixten |

Continuance: This is Mr. Elsdon's solution to the Open Prediction.
Spectator can freely shuffle. Performer, either, as to handle the deck/for l second/or/if the situation presents itself/not at all. Prediction is displayed in the beginning. Spectator deals the cards into a face-up pile and deals 1 card, face-down, onto the face-up pile. Remaining cards are dealt face-up. All the time looking for the Performer's prediction card. It is not there. Performer then takes the face-down card and places it on top, still face down, on the face of the deck. Turns the card over and it is the same as the prediction. As I mentioned, in my earlier post, This is very clean. This version uses a g******. Handled correctly it will never be detected. Sixten |

I also received it, read it and immediately loved it. I guess this comes way closer to the premise of the effect as most of the other versions I am familiar with. It is clean, not too complicated to do and as I don’t mind using g***** cards at all and the "dirty work" happens during an off beat, I am sure I will give Mark's version a try in the next couple of days.

Hi Stefan,
I'm glad that we are in the same boat with this wonderful variation. Also, it's nice to know that this boat does not have any holes in the floor for water to come in. Very best, Sixten |

Hi Frans,
The web-site for Mr. Mark Elsdon is, onetruemerlin@hotmail.com. He posted his thread on Entity's Open Prediction in the Penny for your Thoughts forum. On page 9 -of this thread -he said that his free offer has expired. You can contact him and ask him to send you one. You never know. Good luck, Sixten |

Mark's solution to the Paul Curry challange is a very interesting one. As Sixten indicated, it uses a g******. For the super clean version (and to comply with the Paul Curry "challange conditions" to the greatest extent (particularly having the spectator handle the deck and do the dealing), the effect will require a modicum of card sleight of hand--but nothing too difficult. And, at the end, if you like you can easily clean up and then use the deck for other card effects.
Mark put a lot of thought into this solution...such as the placing of the freely selected face down card onto the face of the deck just prior to the revelation. (I wouldn't have expected anything less from the creator of "Rubix Remembered".) (grin) Way to go,Mark. And thanks for sharing your solution with a number of us. Mike

Mark was very generous to offer his solution to many of us. Thank you!
The PDF is clear and well written. Mark, you should consider writing more books for Alakazam . The tidbit about Stewart James' "factually honest but deceptively dealer-ad type description(s)of tricks" was an interesting insight into the man. 51FN,3FS would have been a very nice addition to Thom Baxter's OP compilation. However, I did the next best thing and immediately added it to my bound Open Prediction printout as a "supplement". In that way, Mark's contribution is always handy whenever I pull out Tom's excellent Open Prediction ebook. I love Tom's book and wish more ebook compilations like this were written. Perhaps, we can have another competent author take on another favorite (or popular) subject and publish it in ebook form.

I agree Mike . It is one of the best investment in an e-book I'd ever made. Thom's (entity)work of researching and editing the 70+ submissions is a true labor of love. The collection is a great contribution to the history and development in the handling of the OP. Maybe we'll see another exceptional compilation project on the ACCAAN or Thought of Card plots in the future. (keep it in the back burner Thom !) I'll be adding Mark's excellent piece to the collection as well. Bosco |

Hi again Frans,
Sorry you hit a wall. Go to Penny For Your Thoughts Forum. Then click at Entity's Open Prediction Post. Page #9 has Mark's thread with his e-mail, dated: 12/09, click on his e-mail, in the thread, and then you should connect from there. If that doesn't work, hit him with a P'M. Best, Sixten |
