It took some work, but I believe this is the page to which you are trying to get us to look at: http://www.radiantpics.com/about-retouching.html
What ever terms you were searching for in Google Images, there were a few problems: 1) When you went to the page, you neglected to turn off Google's frame. This means you were still on Google's page, and not on the intended radiantpics.com page. (This is why the URL begins with "images.google.com", instead of "www.radiantpics.com".) 2) When you copied the URL, you cut it off so that it read: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h......mgrefurl That "imgrefurl" (shorthand for "image reference URL") should have an equals sign after it, followed by more URL information. 3) Finally, the reason it works on your computer, and nobody else's, is because your computer has been there already, and the browser is using it's memory of that visit to fill in the missing part of the URL. Nobody else's computer here has access to what your particular browser remembers, so we can't access the same page with just the URL as given. |

Cool stuff. however, as a graphic designer and illustrator, I do this kind of stuff every day. It does take skill and learning the tools of the software program I use, but it works well for what I am called in to do. I have done almost every one opf thse examples from time to time.

Kyle, I've dabbled in that sort of retouching as well. Gotta love Photoshop's "Liquify" filter!
Incidentally, the "trim abdominal flab" photo left behind some obvious photo retouch artifacts. I'm sure you spotted them, as well as some evidence of manipulation in the other photos. The technology's good, but it takes real skill and an attention to detail to manipulate a photo so perfectly as to fool experts. There's been a rash of news articles lately on falsified photos. With the software available today, computers can even detect manipulation (such as certain pixel cloning) that experts don't see. -Erik

Erik: yes indeed. I use Photoshop every day for my design job. Over the years I can do stuff with it blindfolded. lol I like the filters but a lot of the power of what I do know, is stuff filters simply can not do. I have just developed techniques and shortcuts over the years of working within Photoshop.=)
You are also right in that a good keen eye can often spot flaws in retouching. I know I can but that is because I do this stuff all the time. The average consumer could not tell the difference though in a normal print job. I have fun with it and have used it to adjust and edit images for posters etc. Kyle

Doug, that was really cool. As I was looking at the images, I kept thinking "ok where can I get this?" Then I checked out the services and learned more about the guy. He seems like a nice guy?!
Thanks! |

Most of what you are seeing is simple digital photo retouching techniques. It does take a keen eye and also knowledge of techniques and software. However, most all of this can be done with a program called Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop is a graphic industry standard for digital photo compositing and retouching. Hope this helps.

What type of cost are you talking, money wise, for that software? I would like to get some type of Photoshop or illustrator but nothing too difficult or advanced. I'm not the brightest bulb in the lamp.

Well Photoshop and Illustrator are high end digital software. It is what we use in the graphics industry. However, it is the best of the best. With that comes a learning curve for sure to master how to do these techniques. Also, with it comes a hefty price for the programs themselves.
Most of the software comes bundled together as a creative suite or CS. CS comes with most all of the Adobe programs for you. Photoshop by itself may run you around $350 bucks. It varies through. You can also always find good deals on ebay or craig's list. Kyle

Oh, wow, I guess that's for serious workers?
I notice that the guy said he used CS3. What would you reccomend for someone like me who is just starting out and using windopes vista? Thanks! |

Yeah if he said CS3 then he means he used Adobe Creative Suite version 3. That is what I use as well. Yes, it is for the serious or professional user. I use it for the design work I do for freelancing as well as at my day job for a marketing agency. It is high end for sure with a higher price tag, but you do get the best of the best.
Hmm I would have to check on what would work best for you. It is hard to tell because I am just so used to using Photoshop all the time I have just become so used to it. lol Kyle

I am running CS4 upgraded from CS2, at them moment, so far so good. Some nice features in CS4 such as 3D tools, I don't like the fact you don't have a zoom navigation menu anymore, this is the only thing I am disappointed in, the zoom slider was very handy.

As software goes, $350 isn't that bad for Photoshop. A functional 3d CAD/Animation program like 3d Studio Max or Maya may cost you several thousand dollars.
