I got the DVD yesterday and watched it twice. It is filled with solid workers and for most of them, Mr baker has added some interesting twists. For example, the venerable Coloring Book has an added ending where the black and white outlines as well as the colors are visibly pulled out of the book and end up in the hands of the child - who then gets them as souvenirs! I won't reveal the secret; you've got to get the DVD, but I guarantee you'll hit yourself for not thinking of it!
Also, the tricks are connected using some great gags and a commercially availble trick from Mark Mason - again, great thinking. All in all, as a working semi-pro I picked up a lot of useable tips and ideas and I HIGHLY recommend it for the low price. Service is great and the DVD arrived in Hong Kong within 2 weeks by airmail. Thanks to Justin Miller (a name I wouldnt have normally associated with kids magic!) for introducing this to us. It would have flown under the radar if not! http://www.learnkidshowmagic.com is the link for the details and demo of the DVD. |

Thanks, Bern. I watched the demo, and like Carroll's style. My DVD is on it's way!
Don't you just love the Magic Café? ;) |

Seriously - thanks for the tip. Another DVD to add to my collection. King of Custard was recommended a while back, but I have to say I was a little disappointed. None of the routines were explained (even though I'm sure most seasoned children's performers would be able to work them out) but I find that really annoying.

Well on this DVD,Mr Baker does tip the working of several of the effects on his kidshow, but not all - as some are commercial dealer items like Square Circle, Stratosphere, Coloring Book etc. But its educational to see his workings of these classic kidshow effects- with little twists thrown in for the keen viewers among us.

I thought the DVD was OK - not awful - but not that great either. Mr Carroll is obviously a far more talented magician than myself, but I thought some of his performances were a little "stiff".

Probably not for the seasoned pro, nor the absolute beginner, but perhaps for us part timers? So I can't go as far as Mark's review though my first impression was was at the same level. So I will leave at that:...its OK -- not awfull -- but not great either....but I'm not selling mines yet

Keeblem,
an interesting review on your site. Still pondering over whether to purchase it as many of these routines (or similar) I've already got from David Ginn, Trevor Herbert, Pat Fallon et al.
