Does anyone know if there is anyone that builds good Muppet type puppets? I know there is Axtell but, they are made out of latex.

I'm only looking for someone who builds puppets out of the same materal like the muppets.

I believe you might be looking to something like the MAT puppets. ? http://www.matpuppets.com

They make soft style puppets, much like the muppets. I guess they are very reasonable in cost, I've heard great things about then, but still a little much for me. Hope this is of some help to you!

I'd love a MAT puppet.. maybe when I hit the big time. =P

I have both Axtell and Pavlov puppets.

Pavlovs is GREAT and very reasonable. I had them make two custom puppets for me that are on their website - Kudu and Charlie the Frog. They are wonderful.

If you are on a fixed budget you may also want to consider a new puppet maker - Wanlu out of the Phillipines.

I have 3 custom puppets that he made for me ranging from $150 to $300 each.

Wanlu is a Magic Café member as wel.

Off topic,
I just saw drpuppet.com totally has a David Tennant "Dr. Who" puppet, and a Dalek puppet.. That's cool. =]

I've got to bookmark all these sites, they're so much fun to look at!

I can recommend both Pavlovs and Wanlu's Kadoopsy puppets as I use both.

I ordered a beautiful custom made puppet from Michele at Puppet Planet and was promised a delivery date of 90 days from when I purchased. Conveniently this is exactly how long it takes for a credit card company to no longer allow charge-backs.

When I called to ask about delivery I was given a heart-wrenching story of trouble that she has apparently come across. My heart goes out to her, but I still don't have a puppet and I can't get my money back.

I've also learned that I am not alone in being unable to get Michele to return e-mails, phone calls, or to deliver on her promises.

BUYER BEWARE!!

Wanlu seems to have a long list of happy customers. I'll probably be calling him soon. Has anyone had a good or bad experience with Puppet Planet?

My experience with Puppet Planet has been good. I met Michelle at the Venthaven convention last year and purchased a puppet from her. She seemed like a genuinely nice person, and if she has had a series of troubles hit her, I don't think spreading it all over the internet is helping any.

Hey Neal,

I'm glad to hear that others have had better dealings than I have. To be fair I just got an e-mail from her a few minutes ago promising a refund of my purchase price. So I will again wait another three months to see what happens.

If you are looking for truly "Muppet-Style" puppets, that best I've seen, bar none, are Jarrod Boutcher's. He's an active participant on MuppetCentral.com's puppetry forum, and you can frequently find his works for sale on ebay, apart from his commissioned works. Check his stuff out!

FYI: I recently received a full refund from Michele at Puppet-Planet. I am glad that the issue has been resolved and Michele and I are both looking forward to putting this behind us.

I wish her all the best as her puppets are (as I've always said) absolutely beautiful.

I would run screaming from oliverscreatureshop. This is a builder who has been named in a lawsuit by Disney for infringement of intellectual property. Was always selling unlicensed Muppet replicas on ebay and changing name/ID every time he got reported. This guy is as bad as everyone who builds an unauthorized illusion.

Too bad, too because the craftsmanship looks great, but I would not trust him any further than I could throw him. Blatant disregard for other peoples' work does not speak well for his integrity at all.

Just to give a word for Muchele at Puppet Planet, she's a great lady, and she has indeed sufferd extraordinary circumstances. When she's able to reassemble her world she'll be a top-notch builder one more. But she is in no way running any kind of scam.
