Hi ! No no, don't please joke about my request ;-)
So here's the thing : I'm an amateur and I'm looking for ideas of tricks we could present together, no big illusions, just easy and fooling effects to do together... Perhaps there's a topic already on the site, but as I'm french I couldn't find the right words perhaps but I didn't find anything.... Thanks for advice and help !

I don't know about two person tricks, but you could to a Penn and Teller type presentation where one of you speaks and narrorates, and the other does the sleight of hand and magic.

I’m not sure if you like mentalism, but Thirteen Steps to Mentalism has a lot of routines which involve a helper. The general premise of most of the effects would be that your wife is a Medium and helps you the magician.
For instance, on page 312 of 13 Steps is the Million Dollar Test. During this effect, a spectator silently chooses a symbol in front of the magician and with a snap of your fingers your wife (who is in another room and cannot see the card) names the symbol. You can repeat with different selection if wanted. |

Isn't there a set of dvds by a husband/wife team, dealing with cabaret or parlor magic, that is put out by L&L?

Check out the works of Dominic Duvivier - often does two person routines with his daughter.

Obviously Mark Wilson and Nani Darnell come to mind. In Mark's Complete Course in Magic are any number of tricks that can be done together. Most parlor tricks can be modified to be done with two people.

I agree with the Father here. The Mark Wilson Course is a good place to start. I believe that Mark Wilson was the first father son trick on tv. I could be wrong, but there are a lot you could do. You could do a comedy cut and restored rope together and have hers go perfect but yours goes wrong. I am not into mentalism so can't comment on that. The Mutilated Parasol would be a good routine you 2 could do together.

Hi everybody ! I thank you all very much for all of your contributions, it's amazing how much good ideas flow in a short time...
In fact we did already present to friends the Falkenstein-Willard Gypsy Rope trick which is easy and really amazing for lay people... That was a good start, now we'd like to go further... It isn't easy to share magic with your second half, but if I could it would be very nice... I'll check Mark Wilson's work and the L&L dvds again, and 13 steps too... Thanks for all !

Tim Ellis and Sue Anne Webster do some very entertaining things together. In their lecture Sue Anne controls Tim with a remote control. She basically narrates and runs the show as if Tim were on the TV and she is almost a part of the audience.

I have an idea, umm I have an idea but I don't know if its been done before but, I cant reember who made it but its called asidus novus(found on wayne houchin's stigmata), its a way of folding a piece of paper about card size and then you can peek at one of the corners. nut anyway tell them to think of any card and right it down, get thm to sigin it and peek the name of the card and then when you say this is notmal deck you can through search for the card, and then do a card force on them, it looks like you hae found the card they thought of and then they think there is no way you could half known, doing this trick is good with two people get the other to think of the card and the other to randomly pick it.
p.s hope that made sense from MM |

Just don't try to saw her in half until you've had a LOT of practice with manikins.

Airship, I did that when I first started. Messed up and I ended up haveing to pay her double after that. Don't have that problem anymore though. Side line here, has anyone heard of the new movie, "Women In Boxes"? Just curious it is about the assistants in the acts. Looks like it might ne an intresting movie to watch.
