Mr. Mystoffelees Inner circle I haven't changed anyone's opinion in 3623 Posts |
Well then, I will start it off.
I have about 1000 "swizzle sticks" that I get from McDonalds or Wendys whenever I go in. They are supposed to be used to stir coffee, but I just know there is some use for them in a magic routine. Just haven't found it. Had to laugh, though, at someone posting on a "worst magic thing you ever bought" thread. They related that what was advertised to be a Hot Rod ended up being a McDonalds stir stick with a dot painted on one side. So, there is always hope. Anyway, who wants to trade for some of these, and what you got? Jim

I do the same thing but to me, I feel it is what I refer to when I lecture as a 'creativity walk" or Creativity Journey." What you are doing is training yourself to look past the obvious in things and seeing creativity in stuff that others may not see.
When I am walking about in any store or pretty much any wheres, I have my mind free to see past the obvious. Anything is open to spark a creative idea for my magic. I allow these ideas to come into my head. sometimes, I buy the items to play around with and other times I just record the idea so I can come back to it later. For me, this is a creativity exercise and it helps me to always stay fresh. Kyle

Lol so true. My wife is just used to it now. In fact, she often does the same thing. Some of my best routines and most creative ideas came from seeing things while we were out and about.

Yep, I don't know how many times I've heard "What are you looking at that for?"
more often than not followed by "Oh you're thinking of using that for magic aren't you?" "...yes dear." |

I am lucky in that my wife is my magical partner on stage. She usually understands exactly what I am looking at and then starts to smile with me. lol

That plus the fact that she enjoys the same creativity process I go through.
