"perfect storm is from a book, a true account. as was stated in the forum up top, but no one really knows what happened at the end."

True, except we know they didn't come back. I just don't see how the ending could have been much improved without changing that fact...

Yeah, but while watching I don't care if it's based on a true story, I care that these people get out of their danger.

Boy, I bet the ending of Titanic really upset you then. It would have been a much better picture if they missed the iceberg and arrived safely in New York.

Glad you mentioned "Titanic", Payne, because I was reminded that IT has the worst movie ending of all time - that woman dumping the jewel into the ocean - THAT COULD HAVE PAID FOR YOUR GRANDKIDS' COLLEGE EDUCATIONS, YOU MORON!!!!!!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

The Ninth Gate. So much promise but, well a similar ending may have worked but the structure of the ending was weak. The best description I heard was "It's like a beautiful, sleek, hot looking car...with no engine. Looks great but doesn't go anywhere." I was also let down by Ron Howard's ending of the Da Vinci Code. The books ending was much better.

Worst ending? How about "The Villiage"?

The very first time I saw an ad for that movie, I mentioned to several of my friends a guess I had about the ending. When one of them went to see it, and told the rest of us about it, he had a one-sentence review: "Scott called the ending exactly right."

OK, I've got to add another worst ending to my list:

Message in a Bottle.

Aaacckk! I just watched this over the weekend, and it was such a ripoff! The guy dies at the end. How depressing!

I'll probably be rebuked for this but here goes...

Lord of the Rings Return of the King

I understand they had to try and keep with the book. However, it seemed to me like the movie just wouldn't end. Once the ring went in the fire it seemed like there was another hour of trying to end the movie.

And this was after like 11 hours among the 3 movies. Ugh.

Deep Throat. The ending was so obvious.

My wife hated the ending of "Time Bandits," we all agree the ending of Burton's "Planet of the Apes" was awful!

That was the only part of the movie I liked. They took it straight from the book. Or maybe I was just happy the thing ended.

The book ended with an astronaut reading the account of the story, turning to his friend and stating that it could never be true before using his prehensile toes to trim the sails of his space yacht.

I remember a lot of people saying they hated the ending to Planet of the Apes. I assumed it was the part where the human goes back to earth and finds it being run by apes. That part is from the book. In the book I think he lands in Paris (the author was French), but in the movie it looks like he landed in Washington D.C. It's not as good an ending as finding a broken statue of liberty, but I just liked it better compared to the rest of the movie.

In the book, after landing in Paris, he leaves the earth and writes the story which is then found and read by the space apes.

Rimbaud,

I totally agree about The Vanishing. The original was a powerful and disturbing film (so powerful in fact that a woman asked my friend and I to walk her to her car afterwards - (dark car park)).

When I heard they were going to remake it I knew it would end in tears. I eventually saw it on TV and found the 'here comes the cavalry' ending every bit as dreadful as they said it was.

We had the movie itself sort of blink out on us so I thought it was just me!

OMG!

Of course "The Perfect Storm" ends that way, they all went missing (presumed dead) in real life!

They can't SURVIVE in the Movie Version!

THAT would be the worst ending in a Movie if they did survive! That's like making a 9-11 Movie where the Twin Towers are not hit by the planes!

"The Perfect Storm" was made in remembrance of those who went missing...
