To be confirmed, but hopefully at the end of January I will have a residency at a bird and monkey park performing for children who arrive in tour groups.

Anyway, the owner seems amenable to letting me sell a trick or 2 after the show,( which could be during the show?) an opportunity not to be missed as it can boost my take ( I get paid per bum booked, and I have experience selling little magic tricks at flea markets)...........any suggestions out there on what to sell, when to pitch your item(s)etc?..........

So far I like the monkey puzzle,( suits the theme) and was thinking of Parade of the Kings.( good little trick, everyone can do it).................both wholesale less than half a dollar

Id welcome your thoughts and ideas

If you do a search here on the Café, using the word "BOR," you will see tons of discussions about "Back of Room" sales at magic shows.

I have no experience in BOR work, but from the discussions, it sounds like small magic sets work well in this format, in addition to individual tricks.

Good luck with your new venue. If I can make a suggestion, the Magic Worms sound like a natural in an animal park like this. Let us know how it works out for you! SETH

Hello, I do a lot of selling after magic shows. I work at a amusement park and it seems like the ball and base, short and long cards, and nickels to dimes are excellent for selling after shows.

Selling after shows is a lot easer than pitching because you have a "built in tip"

All the greats did it and do it,Howard Thurston,Blackstone Sr & Jr,Siegfried & Roy,Lance Burton,David Copperfield,etc.

People love and really enjoy spending money on souvenir's.You should always call the tricks that when you make your pitch from the stage.

"Everybody ask that we have SOUVENIR'S of the show so we grathered together an amazing assortment of easy to do tricks that will be a wonderful souvenir's for each and everyone of you to remember the show that are here tonight"... and so on...You get the idea.

People like spending their money on "souvenir's" much more than spending their money on tricks.Don't ask me why but they do.

Have you ever been to Ringling Brothers circus? It's $15 to get in and $50 to get out.(if you're that lucky)

Because it makes people happy when they spend money, its your duty as a performer to releave everyone in the audience of every cent you can so they are all HAPPY...hahahaha
