So this may be a basic question, but how does one try to find Easter Eggs? Do we randomly click on the screen to see if a 'secret door' opens? For those of us willing to look, how does one generally go about trying to find them?

First off, it isn't Easter Eggs, the term is cookies. If we were talking about the industry standard term, then the phrase would be Easter Eggs. But because a fine point was put on it by Tom, I shall make a finer point and point out that we aren't discussing general industry terms; we are discussing TA by PH, as specified in the OP.
Here is one of the many mentions of "cookies" by Jason from the product announcement: "Each DVD has hidden cookies containing bonus effects, interviews and bonus footage, just waiting to be found." They are cookies. And now, responding to the distinction made makes me silly as well. Secondly, though I won't loose any sleep over this, and I knew full well the project contained many cookies, and I look forward to watching them, I have discovered none of them of the first disc I've watched. I wouldn't even begin to know how to find them until the hint in this thread of putting the disc into my computer. All the button pushing in the world did not bring the hidden knowledge to me. I like the fact that they're on the discs - it's a bit of fun. But my time is limited, so if anyone would like to PM me with hints on what direction to look, or to just flat out tell me how to find them, I would be appreciative. |

I have to say I agree with Bob. If you have to hunt for the info you pay for then it is not so great an idea.
Now many like to feel clever, as if they are 'in the know', and this makes them love the whole cookie/Easter Egg thing. Ok cool. I happen to really hate the idea. So as a marketing ploy it is horrible for me. For others, probably a bit younger it may very well be a selling point.

Just because the person producing the DVD didn't know the correct term for "hidden features", doesn't mean we all have to start misnaming it. Because of the misuse of the term "cookies", I didn't understand this thread until about the 3rd/4th reply. I prefer clarity over the freedom to randomly rename things using terms already used for different things. |

I suppose all of you would be the type to complain about humour injected into instructional books? Or games like the ones in Kenner's book(s), yes?
It is additional material that is there for fun. It is NOT secret special material only for those smart enough to find it. All the material is still there, available to ALL who purchase it. Also, MOST of these Easter eggs are things that are more like treats, not effects that you bought the set for. Things like interviews, and old footage of Paul. These are like bloopers. You aren't buying a magic dvd for bloopers, and certainly wouldn't complain if they were not right there in front of you when you bought the dvd. HOWEVER, they are great to watch, and provide additional insight to the product you have. The same goes for interviews. These are here for you benefit. These are things that are bonuses, you wouldn't complain if they weren't included at all. If you never knew about them. They are gifts to you from the producers, so stop b!tc#ing if you have to play a little game to see them. There no reason NOT to have fun thrown into an instructional product. imagine the original AoA series without Pauls humour injected into it, or the fun little drawings with the occasional joke hidden in them that you have to, oh no, THINK about to get it. God forbid the visual puns weren't spelt out for you.

Oatmeal please, maybe with raisins and cinnamon.
You want to talk about easter eggs? What sort of self respecting magician these days does not know how to read menu files off a DVD or to flatten the DVD into its component tracks? The answers to that and even how to set the clock on your VCR are as close as google or your child who probably looks up to you anyway.

Ah, lol. Can't believe I didn't get that.
As for Easter Eggs, I enjoy the cadbury minis, my wife, however loves the cadbury cream eggs, which I find too sweet.
