I'm looking for a real good (magical) way to hand out my business cards. Which one is your favourite business card effect/ trick to hand out your business card?

There's so many ways, but I still haven't found one that doesn't seem cheesy or takes too long. So I'd love to hear others' approach to this.
Hocus-Pocus has a new electronic item, Rising Business Card, that looks quite decent. |

If you don't wear a shirt w/ pocket, then Suds' Rising and Talking Business Card is a pretty cool presentation/effect. I like some of Ammar's business card tricks but they seem lacking the modern touch.
I'd suggest Rising Business Card Case by John Cornelius using a business card case. However, I'm not sure if we are limited to John Cornelius's card case or we can use own own...

The problem with handing out a magical biz card is when there are multiple people that want it then you feel obliged to do it for each person and who wants to do that.
I have an out to lunch spoon bending setup for my cards. J |

I like the OTL principal w/bus cards, but my cards are colored on both sides.
I'm not crazy about John Cornelius' Rising Bus Card Case. I have it and have never used it - not very magical. I've thought about Hot Leads/Afterburn, but not very practical. |

At the risk of accusations of blatant self-promotion, I've been told that my effect "Mentalink" from my ebook, "Mind Index" is one of the best effects possible with a business card. I wouldn't post this if it weren't one of my favorite pieces of mental magic, genuinely strong and capable of a profound impact on the audience.
And if you are willing to cross the line into mentalism, "Heart2Heart" from the same book has received incredibly strong reviews literally from around the world. There are several other effects that can be done with business cards in "Mind Index" but these two are the stand outs in my own opinion and from the feedback I've received from mentalists and magicians. |

The Stockholder should give you a lot of good ideas.

There's a Café thread on the 'Incredible Floating Credit Card & Rising Talking Business Card by Suds' that Hocus-Pocus carries:

The best and most memorable routine to hand out a card is Mike Close's pothole effect. People keep that card forever and ALWAYS remember it.
In a hurry I will do the impromptu version I know of to float a business card.

Hello all!
While performing at a party this weekend, I adapted Richard Sanders'"Tagged" to my business card. Inevitably a person(s) will ask you for your BC...(I mean that's the whole point of performing, right?)I simply told a spec that I would be glad to get them my BC, but if they would indulge me for a second I wanted to have them select a card and keep it on their person "until the time was right". After a while I returned to hand out my BC's but when I reached the person with the chosen card I stopped and told them I wanted to give them my BC in a very special way. I performed "Tagged" and viola! I added a kicker to the effect by having the card revelation written on the back of the BC and of course played it up as much as possible..... I feel that it went over very well! I handed out the entire chain and told the spec to hang this in a place that would remind them to call me as soon as posiible. (wink. wink!) This is one way to not only have the spec always remember your performance but hopefully the other spectators (with your BC's) will go home and talk about it as well. Respectfully, JRRocha

Something I do is that I touch somebody's t-shirt/top and then magically print that colour to my bus card. (based on homer liwag's trick which was mentioned here on the Café). the handling is Gary Kurtz's.

Pothole trick is limited to certain types of business card paper stock. If you have the glossy coat on both sides of your cards, then the Pothole trick will not work.

The absolute best business card effect I've found is "Flash Fold" from Paul Harris. It's in his Art Of Astonishment Volume 1.

Years ago (maybe six or seven?), I bought a rising business card case. I don't know if it was the same Rising Business Card Case by John Cornelius as mentioned above, but checking a few sites, it seems to be the same...
If it is, you cannot do it with any card case. It requires the case supplied. I suppose people who are handy might be able to make a case for themselves, but it would require work. I can't do it with my average, suburban, desk-job background. It also requires a second or two of private reset between rising cards, so you can't hand out a rising card the same way for more than one person at a time. But I like the case and use it. I think the magic is all in the presentation. It needs at least a little bit of practice to get it working well. That being said, it isn't my only business card trick. I've got the Stockholder wallet, Ammar's business card DVD, and a few other prediction tricks based on business cards. Too bad I have to use both sides of my card (one side for English, the other for Japanese) or I'd print a prediction card on the back side of all of my business cards. By the way, the Stockholder wallet works well for American size business cards, but not for foreign sizes (or at least it doesn't work for the size readily available here in Japan. I had to order more cards from the U.S. for use in the wallet). Just a few comments, Bill |

I definitely second the Pothole Trick. I used to do Pothole in my restaurant work; last year I performed for a family that I hadn't seen in 13 years, and they still remembered that particular trick. Itsmagic is right about the card stock though- my current cards are glossy on both sides, and it doesn't work. Bummer about that.
Eugene Burger's version of "Aspirin Tin" used the business card to give the souvenir photo card as a gift; I gave away a lot of those back in my restaurant days as well. |

I've got to say that the "Pothole" effect by Michael Close is a great effect and very memorable. I've done it for years and it always gets an incredible reaction. Another really good effect with a business card is Brian Curry's "Business Card-iographic". It's put out by Martin Lewis at his shop Magikraft Studios. Also Hank Lee's Magic Factory carries it as does Hocus Pocus Magic. I've been doing that lately for the regular customers that come into the restaurant I've worked at doing close-up magic for over 17 years there. Most of them have already seen me do the "Pothole" effect, so I've been doing this one lately and it gets a really good reaction too. I'm very pleased with it. It does take some set up time and also it's a good idea to have a stock of of your business cards printed up with the prediction but the work is worth it if you want a great trick. Once you have done the initial set up though, you are ready to perform it over and over with quick reset. I hope this helps you out.
