I want to buy "The Expert at the Card Table" and I´m wondering if I should buy the dover edition or another one?
because I somewhere read that the dover edition is not the same like the original? thanks for answers! |

The Dover edition is worthwhile for the introduction by Martin Gardner which recounts some of his work on the mystery of the author's identity. But the Erdnase text was entirely re-typeset, so you lose the historical pagination, for whatever that is worth. The Powner edition is the true descendant of the first edition and retains the typography of the original. It is readily available new for about $10, a bit more than the Dover.

Thank you for your answer!
I was afraid that the dover edition is maybe missing something from the original, but if it´s only the pagination than this is no problem for me. |
