Yesterday, Dec 26th, marked one year since my surgery for lung cancer. As I write this I am cancer free, and I have a scan scheduled for January.

Scott, that is fabtastic news! Yiu have been in my family's prayers since I found out you were ill. You are even on our churche's prayer list, so I see your name in print each Sunday and think of you. I am so glad you are doing well.

I was hoping to see you during my annual Christmas parade cisit, but my mother had a severe heart attack and we were not able to make it. I was excited about Duane's "Christmas Party" get-together this year, so it was really disappointing to not be able to come up there.

I hope this upcoming year will be a happy and healthy one for you, my friend!!!

Thank you Scott....and you are most welcome! I am just glad you are doing well.

I was hoping to get to the Winter Carnival of Magic this year, and see about getting some doves then, but it looks like a scheduling conflict will not allow me to make. I got 4 doves, but if there is not a male in the bunch I am going to be needing some more. Unless something changes though, I will not be able to come in March. I may just have to make a special trip!

Happy New Year to you also!

I am great, thanks for asking! I hit 2 years the day after Christmas, and I am still cancer free. I get scanned once a year now until I reach 5 years. My surgeon told me that I now have a better than 50% chance of being CURED. I never thought I would see the day...

How are you Piers?

The Gettysburg story brought chills...

I have been there several times, once around the 4th of July. Very spooky!

I am an absolute believer that there are ghosts in that battlefield. I have actually heard the sounds of the battle and cries of wounded. Rode horseback there a few years back, and stayed in an area that had a dark history. Good thing you listened to the voices...

Scott- you go guy! The most tuffness is always needed when you close on the end of a fight. Hang tuff...

Scott,
So sorry to hear your cancer sucks post. Happy to hear things are going better for you now. It is so great to have a magic brotherhood to give you a... heh guy, ..whats up,... I'm here for you buddy. And better still to have Steve Brooks have a place to connect when all of us are everywhere but there in person. That being said I will throw my 2 cents in.
Once you become part of that club, you hear the good stories. Usually you do not hear them because either people have moved on and are cancer free or well you don't hear about it because of the obvious. But then in the midst of all this ;is the talking about it and the support groups ...and then you do hear the good stuff. I knew a woman who had such faith that her second xray showed the spot on her lung vanished. I mean really. and they gave her a horrible prognosis. But even though the docters were puzzled. It did not surprise me about her one bit. Because I know her strong faith. And she accepted gods will, and prayed like crazy for a positive outcome everyday several times a day and talked to him. Now I am not a baptist, born again devout like her. But that was her story and I have known her for years and did not even know this until it was mentioned very casually.
What I did learn was that from my family a postive outlook, a lifestyle of holistic vitamins(change) helped alot, as well as (not a just nice docter. you are comfortable with/or not comfortable with)a docter WHO TREATS the very ,very ill cancer patients. And that is ALL he/she does. Faamily genes fighting off this monster play a part too. Sheryl Crow has a book about her journey I know my family says it has her thoughts and insights, a real help. The fact that you have magic and other outlets will do wonders as well as learning a few new skills just for the newness. To stimulate your healing brain cells, yeh, I know what your thinking.. Yoga or whatever it takes. Go to it. Even acting classes, cooking, etc .You can do it!. Who would have imagined, that we now have tiny bots to go inside us and work in there for the docters? Maybe when they retire they can work for us to make things disappear externally in our shows. Be well! KH

Keep well, Scott. For some it's just great to hear that someone is doing well; for others, it gives hope when we're personally affected by this disease. Your good news is a reminder to those of us who continue to be affected by cancer that it does NOT have to be a death sentence.
Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers!
