Scott,

I am sorry to hear that you have to deal with this disease. I am a practicing medical oncologist and I am going to tell you what I tell my patients. Statistics can never predict what will happen to an individual. The world is full of patients who have overcome great challenges despite what the statistics tell them.

I have seen my share of miracles. My favorite patient had stage IIIB non small cell lung cancer. He had unresectable disease. With chemo and radiation, he remains disease free 6 years from his diagnosis. Another of my patient's with both kidney and lung cancer is close to a decade out.

Concentrate on the positives in the face of this adversity. Be thankful that you have family and friends who care about you. Try not to let them pull you in 6 differnent directions and know that your physician will do whatever he can to get you through...

Good luck

Jeff & Mike,

Thanks for the kind words. I hope to see both of you at the WCM in March. I should be up and doing great by then. Right now, I am full of pain pills...not terrible thing at all, but I am ready to get back performing magic and running my shop. My sons have been filling in for my gigs and running the store. You TN guys have really stepped up to the plate. If any of you are ever in need, you know that I will be there for you!

Now that’s the way to hang in there. Well done Scott, and I’m still wishing you the best.

Enjoy, but don’t get hooked on those pain pills. Smile

Happy New Year

Scott,

I am breaking my silence from the Magic Café because Don sent me an email about you. Let me tell you my dear friend, I believe in healing. My wife survived a malignant brain tumor. I believe the same for you and will pray for your quick and speedy recovery. Chemo is a lot better that it used to be. Hey maybe you won't even lose your hair!!! (LOL, I am kidding).

Please let me know if there is any thing we can do for you or your family.

Ok guys, lets mobilize and kick the s*** out of this cancer. It can be done.

David

David,

I was SOOOO glad to hear from you and Don today! You made my day buddy!

Thank you David, and thank you Don Driver!

May this New Years be the first of many that are cancer free for you Scott. We have never met but we have the big C in common. I beat mine back almost two years ago and I know you will too.

Scott,

Thank you so much for your gracious post. No my friend, it was you that made my day. It was great to talk with you. I wished you could have been with Don and myself, along with Charles Rhodes of Gallatin today. After talking with you we went to lunch and had a ball. Don made me laugh so much I hurt afterwards. What a great guy he is. We are very lucky to know and have Don as a friend.

Again, thank you for your post.

My best to you and your family.

Good news - I am going home today!!!!

I still have one chest tube in but I am out of here!!!

To my brothers and sisters in magic - THANK YOU!!! Your support and prayers have been way beyond the call of duty! I am so proud to be counted among you. I hope to see you all at the Winter Carnival of Magic in March.

I would also like to thank Steve Brooks and the Magic Café. Without this forum this communication could never have occurred. We all owe Steve a debt of gratitude.

Humbly,

Dear Scott,

I will keep you in my prayers. It is wonderful to see you in great spirits. Musicman 20190 had truly inspirational stories and experience. Whenever things happen to me my brother calls me up and starts singing the theme from "Rocky". I can see you climbing the steps on the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It is fantastic hearing the personal stories from the people on the Café who knows someone close to them who has beaten this.

My mother was diagnosed years ago but she wouldn't give up because she had 5 kids to raise and no one to take care of us when we were young if she was gone. She told the physician she wasn't ready and he told her to get her things in order. Let's just say she went to our weddings and saw her grandkids many years after being diagnosed:) Faith is a very powerful thing.

God Bless,

Mike

I guess I will throw in a little update for everyone. My dad is doing fine and has been home for a couple of days. He hopefully gets his chest tube out Tuesday! Besides a little pain and a huge scar across the side of his body he is doing extremely well and is still keeping a positive attitude!

Christian,

You guys hang in there. I talked with your dad the other day and you are right, he sounded great on the phone. If he even looks like he is getting a little down, drop Don Driver and me a line. We would be happy to do anything we can.

Follow up appointment with my doctor today went great! I am progressing well and in the healing process now. I have a 14" incision that is healing and I just need to get strong before chemo starts in mid Feb or so. I thank everyone for the prayers and support. I am gonna lick this thing and be back in no time!!

See you all soon!
