I hate to say this, but I liked the guy's routine with the Op-Art. The screen coming down to make the girl's re-appearance really sped things up. The kicker finish was good too. A couple of new touches to the existing routine.
Sad if it is a knock-off. Didn't take long for Domonic to knick that one. |

I'm very sorry, but I must agree Christopher. The presentation wasn't bad, except for the lighting and the music.
Too bad, if this is a knock off illusion. I can't believe it !!! Not a very nice christmas present for Jim Steinmeyer, if this is true. Oliver. |

He has also ripped off Jim Steinmeyers Holography & Greg Frewins Shrouded tranposition by the looks of it here...also he ripped off the music the pendragons use in their subtrunk presentation during his act..the op art looks very badly made...its a shame as it looks like he has some reasonable presentation ideas in places ..just let down by buying rip off props...poor staging and lighting also

Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

Hi clinton
If you use the music for a different illusion this is not "off limits" !

Luca,
That's what I would say, as long as they pay for the rights. B

I doubt this guy has payed any rights all around...it just irriates me that he most likely heard the music being used by the Pendragons and lifted it for himself...I'm no detective but looking at his track record so far..its a fairly safe call to say he has...nothing is off limits as long as you have rights, permission etc.

This entire thing is so pathetic. I'm totally with Mark Parker on the music. And my standpoint on music is simple. If you've heard someone else use it then don't use it yourself. I suppose many on the Café' haven't sat on Pandora or iTunes for hours on end to find one song. If you had you would easily understand this concept. Where is the art to using the music you just heard from another performer? He or she took hours or even perhaps payed a consultant to find that song; but hey after all you did hear it and like it so go ahead take it. Take their shirt or haircut or speech pattern or jokes or lighting design. After all it's far easier than thinking for yourself and you did like it. It must be nice to shop online or at magic conventions for your new music while others do the heavy lifting.
So many of you sit and cry and whine about the Masked Magician. Wah wah!! But all you hear for these RIP-OFFs is the faint shake of a head and then the resounding approval of this CREEP's "great innovations", please. Anyone posting anything positive about this artistic troglodyte should have their eyes corrected and then be ashamed of themselves. That show was garbage and if you think otherwise you should see more magic and theater or just get better taste. The list of the bad magic theory in that clip alone is longer than a baby's arm not to mention the crap performance technique. The first appearance in the Op-Art that some of you applaud is proceeded with the rear doors being OPEN. So the girl couldn't just run from the U.S. curtain (oh U.S. means upstage that's the part furthest from the audience) into the box? That's good magic and a good performance? This show is about as smooth as dirt. How some of you can come on here and verbally DESTROY leading performers on the World Magic Awards and then give ANY praise to this crap is beyond me. I'm barely offended that this person has ripped off me, Steinmeyer and Frewin that's to be expected but some of the responses on here are just sad. But go back to crying about YouTube and the Masked Magician and all that crap. Cry about Josh Jay's new book but praise this rubbish over your compulsory and barely audible disprovable. |
