Hi all, my favorite part of the forum, hope I can help, and please sorry my english.
Michael, may be you can get a spring from a measurement tape... I use to make my "reels" from that, you can cut it with an old scissors if necesary if the spring cuts, may be with a litle cut on both ends and 3M tape may help If not, its nice to made some paper flowers Biuls. |

I've got a Paul Diamond reel; nice piece. I've got a couple of others, too, cobbled together from ID tag reels and such. I don't use any of 'em, because they ALL make the same tell-tale "zzzzzziiiiippp!" sound that SCREAMS "a mechanical gizmo just made the thing vanish."
Is some sort of sound insulating material on the outside of the case a possible solution? A little felt pouch in which to set the reel? I think I'll work with this idea and see. |

Riser has fixed reels for me when needed. I know he stocks a wide assortment of spring steel. He worked on mine several years ago so I do not know if he still does repair work. I do know that he is making some beautiful and quiet new reels for some people.
