Hi all,
I posted once about doing a spongeball from mouth routine with my Dog arm puppet. I know Practical magic has one, but someone on here send me a link from you tube of a guy who did a great routine with a sponge ball from mouth. I cannot find it! I've looked and looked, tried to find my previous post on here and in the little Darlings but I can't find it. Does anyone have any good links to routines doing the ball from mouth?

Thanks...
Mike

My problem with that routine is finding a good solid ending.

A good ending to sponge balls in mouth with a puppet in my opinion would be a mouth coil. Or make yourself a very long tongue from felt material rolled up inside the puppets mouth. When the final sponge ball comes out, act like your going to take out another sponge ball, grab the rolled up tongue,(which should have the one end attached inside the mouth) and pull out his tongue instead. Once you have his tongue pulled out all the way,(but still attached to the inside of his mouth) look shocked as the puppet screams in slight pain.

Here's a little idea... sponge balls usually come in many different sizes. throughout the routine, use 2inch balls. then, as a finale, ask the puppet if he's had enough and the puppet says no...The puppet sneezes out a huge 4inch ball into your hands! I think stealing the jumbo spongeball will be no problem and suddenly allowing a jumbo sponge ball to expand would be quite magical

Kyle, that is exactly what one of my puppets does, and it always gets a good reaction.
It was an 'extension' of the Karrel Fox Growing Sponge Ball idea.

I think I shall have to look into this.... it sounds like an entertaining routine.

I am looking for a source of sponge eggs. I think it could be very funny with my Jay-Jay the Redneck Bluebird character.

You should email or contact Wayne Rogers (of appearing ladder etc fame) as he had a wonderful routine he used with a puppet with sponge balls from mouth. I think he even had it in one of his lecture notes.

Have you looked into "Blue J Surprise?" Hocus-Pocus carries it, not sure who else.

Are there any videos of a routine like this? I searched youtube but didn't find anything. Usually I like to see what other people are doing, so I can make sure I am very different.

Thanks.

I use the routine from my lecture notes as an opener to my kids show, and it recently helped me win "Best Children's Entertainer" at the New Zealand Convention.

I toured the UK in 2002 with my lecture. The good people at Practical Magic asked if they could use the routine with their dog puppet, and I gladly gave them permission. It is probably quite an old idea although I had never seen it in print before I started using it. I am now using 3 inch red balls that are very visible. I'll post the routine on YouTube when I get the video.

I think the muliplying eggs could be funny and occasionally slip in other things like a foam banana or a foam pickle or even a foam donut.
