Check out Gary Ouellete's book Close-Up Illuisons. For close-up magic theory and practice, you can't go wrong reading Strong Magic by Darwin Ortiz.

The Mark Wilson and Tarbell courses have a lot of good close up stuff in them.
As a general overview of sleights, the book "Now you see it, now you don't" was my intro.
For coins and cards specifically,
I think the most widely accepted classics are Modern Coin Magic for coins,
and Royal Road to Card Magic for cards.
For videos, I am a coin guy so I have to go with David Stone's videos and David Roth's videos.
One that I highly recommend is Reed McClintock's video about the classic palm for coins. His tips can easily be applied to other objects, and even to some other sleights.

Thank goodness for Harry Lorayne! some of the best magic I've ever seen. I'm trying to pick up some more of his stuff. I've only got Magical Classics dvd so far. I'm hoping for some of his books Christmas this year.

Hi: Those interested might want to go to my new, not complete yet, magic website to see what is available directly from me. The website is listed under this post - the one with the word "magic" in it. Then, if you have any questions, you can email to my personal "earthlink" address. Best - HARRY L,

Also, check out the Easy to Master series by Michael Ammar.

I agree. I like how he explains things.
