In an attempt to provide Jullian with an expedited refund, I would like to offer the following puppets available for sale. These are the remaining characters available from the Kidabra display and therefore are completed and ready to ship immediately. Rather than name a price, I will accept any reasonable offer submitted for any of these characters.
I originally planned to sell them on ebay, but my finances have not yet allowed me to pay my outstanding account fees and as a result my account is restricted. If you would like further details such as materials, wired hands, etc. then please feel free to email or call me. -Michele Click here to view attached image. |

Someone just informed me about the rules of selling on this site. I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that items couldn't' be posted for sale in forum messages. I attempted to go in and edit my posts but the option is no longer available. Please forgive me for the error on my part, I was just trying to resolve a problem quickly with a member here. I understand that my post will have to be deleted by a moderator according to the site's rules.

Okay, she has explained very thoroughly what the situation is.. now, deal with it in private and give this women a chance to get her life and business back in order.
I don't see people posting in the public forums when it takes 8 weeks to get a puppet from Axtell. -stephen |

Secondly: Axtell actually communicates quite often and the context of wait is VERY different. Thirdly: Michelle, I didn't like posting that, but I know you realize how it appears and I also feel like you addressed it well. Although I strongly disagree about the communication issue I do wish your family well, hope you get back on your feet soon and wish you a prosperous 2009. It took a lot of courage to come and defend yourself against such strong allegations, and I applaud you for that. |

That tends to be more effective than "corporate communcation" through your website, or website news blog, which they may or may not visit on a regular basis (or ever). I've been pre-paid for services before (on special occassions), and I kept in contact with my individual customers by phone, mail, email, etc. between the time of payment and the time I did the show. Each person likes to feel special one-on-one customer service. Just some food for thought. - Donald P.S. I love when I learn new things. However, I don't agree with your statement above. As I explained in my original post... I had already addressed Julian in emails PRIOR to my knowledge of the posts he made on this forum and even prior to him deciding to make any of these posts at all. This forum had no effect on my response to him, or my agreement to provide a refund... just like his copying people didn't affect the time line of my response. I would have concluded the transaction in the same manner had he kept it private. I know that this subject is a hot matter about puppet builders & receipt of orders, but it would be sad to turn this thread into the bashing of other builders. I respect so many of them and it isn't fair to Steve Axtell or any other builder to be brought up here in a negative light when Julian's problem is clearly with me. Good Night. -Michele |

Michele,
No worries, I'm not trying to bash puppet builders, just reminding sspanks about what happened..and responding to what Julian had stated. I'd have to agree with Donald on this one about communication. I think that's the real issue. I'm sorry about your troubles, and at the same time believe very much in the solution Donald spoke of. Best Wishes, Chris |

My ONLY point was that I think this should have been kept private. There are ways to resolve these type of issues without discussing in such a public forum.
I am not trying to trash Steve Axtell, I have several of his puppets and love them. I have the most respect for Steve. Anyway, as usual I have said way too much. I aswered Julians post about whether he was being a jerk and I only wish the best for Michelle. I understand the type of problems she is dealing with and I think it could have been handled with a little more compassion. -stephen |

Last year, I had a problem with an Ebay seller who sold a damaged figure to me. As a buy and sell kinda guy, getting damaged items in not good business.
I posted the topic in 3 forums...hoping to warn my fellow vents. Unfortunately, it got mixed reactions. I was shocked because I wan not even after my money...I only wanted to warn my peers. In fact Ebay and PayPal agreed that the item was damaged even during the time it was posted as proven by the seller's own pictures, thus I was given an option to refund my money but I never did. Thinking that I will just charge it to experience and guessing that it was an honest mistake on the part of the seller. Maybe to him it was not a damaged mouth I ended up selling the figure to a local vent for much less money that I spent. Bad business My only point is...a particular topic in a public forum can always help if handled correctly. In this case, I think Michelle cleared her name and for a seller like me, that is important. As for Julian, he is getting his money back and to a buyer like me, that is important IMHO, I don't think Julian would have posted this topic if everything was resolved privately.

When I got my very first Pro vent figure more than two years ago, it had a winker problem barely a couple of weeks after I got it. I was trying to get in touch with the maker, sent tons of emails and did not get a single reply.
I posted the problem in a forum and got lots of help. Apparently, the seller was away for a trip and was not able to read his emails...so the forum members who knew him were able to inform him of my concerns and thus the problem was remedied. My point: Seller with good reputation may have reasons why an email or tons of emails have not been answered, most certainly not because a seller is hiding or evading refunds and the like. We just have to be patient...but when enough mails have been sent and still no answer, posting it in a forum may very well do the trick. I am not protecting anyone...nor siding with anyone. I am posting my comments both as a buyer and a seller. As a buyer, we sometimes over react...as a seller we sometimes under react As a seller, most common delays for shipping items are Holidays...Post Office glitches...a particular fabric or material is out of stock etc etc etc. But everything can be explained via prompt emails or announcements. Having said that...those who ordered puppets from me this year will have to wait til next year to get them, fabric out of stock. Wanlu

Let me attempt to set the record straight once again. Yes, communication on my part pretty much sucked while things were happening on my end. I totally agree that Julian and everyone else had every right to run out of patience waiting for me to have an opportunity to get back online and respond.
However, Julian and I were already in communication prior to the multiple posts he made on this site. What I was addressing were the inaccuracies... while still admitting that there was wrong doing on my part. Quote:
On 2009-01-08 10:40, Julian Franklin wrote: This is a major inaccuracy that really upset me. The reason is because Julian and I had already been in communcation on 12/20 which was when I explained to him my situation. At this point he did not ask for a refund, he said that he would like to have his rabbit completed in time for a convention that was about two weeks away. (Jan 2 thru 6th). On the same evening I responded with photos of fabric samples but explained that I wasn't entirely confident that I would have the rabbit completed in time because there were other orders ahead of him and it was hard to determine if those orders would result in some kind of delay (necessary changes once photo is reviewed, shipment of supplies, etc). On 12/23 (I'm sorry, in my oriignal post I said the next day but I just checked and it was the 23rd). I had not yet received a response and so I forwarded my earlier email and asked him for an address of where he would be staying in the event that I could finish his rabbit. Quote:
I've tried several times to contact her to no avail. The phone number I have for her was disconnected and the only e-mail response she has sent was a very lengthy story about a long series of unfortunate events that have befallen her of late. Yes, this is the email communication we had on December 20th. And at that point he knew what my new phone number was because I provided it and told him my website was updated on December 8th. Quote:
While my heart goes out to her, and I truly hope that she recovers and can get back on her feet soon, I wonder what I would do in a similar situation. Again, we had communication on the 12/20, and I had attempted to follow up with him. Further more, his email dated on Janaury 8th, was the first and only request for a refund. Prior to this email, I thought that I was still making puppets for him and had placed an order for fur for another customer and ordered extra because it was my favorite out of the options I provided him and I wanted to start on something while he appeared to be busy for the holidays. That email requesting a refund was send by Julian at 11.39 AM on 1/8... yet his post here is complaining that he didn't receive communication, a refund, a puppet, etc. This post was made at 10:40 am on 1/8... about an hour BEFORE he sent me the email requesting a refund. I didn't check the time of the other posts he made on the website, but they are all the same date, Janaury 8th. One of those other posts implied that I purposly told him a 90 day turn around for his order at the time we met at Kidabra because that was the deadline for his ability to file a chargeback on his credit card... basically telling the public that I never had any intention of responding, making a puppet, or provding a refund.... again, before he even asked for a refund because I was already under the impression that he wanted his puppets. Now, I don't know if the time on this forum is accurate with the time posted in my emails. They may very well not be insinc. However, they were still posted on the same day as when he actually requested the refund and then claimed that he didn't get one. Based on the messages here I'm afraid to say that I feel wronged with the inaccurante comments, but before anyone jumps me with "how dare you" I want to acknowledge that when I met Julian at Kidabra he was very kind, chatted with me complimenting my work, and made me feel welcome as a new comer to the covention. He does have every right to be angry about the delay in communication prior to our December email discussions. Look, Julian wants a refund, and I knew of this as of January 8th, 2009. On the same day, he was told that he would receive a refund. The original posted information he provided was not accurate, that is what I wanted to make clear. However, I am still at fault for the communication issue and I think maybe his anger over that is what prompted the multiple posts attacking my character... despite the fact that they were not entirely true. I do agree with Wanlu, that maybe Julian justified his posts with an attempt to let other buyers beware... however, I strongly feel that these types of statements should be made with accuracy. Not happy and want to tell your friends? Then people should stick to the facts. I did send out a mass direct email to pending customers on my list. It was one email to the list of available email addresses I had at the time and the best I could do with the time I had to do it. I agree that people feel things should have been handled differently, I pointed this out earlier. All I can say is that there were reasons for the decisions I made at the time and I was prioritizing needs as things came up. It's not an excuse, it's a statement of what was happening at the time. It's in the past and I'm not asking for forgiveness, acknowledgment, or acceptance from anyone. I am moving on and working to sort through all of the pending orders I currently have so at this point I'd like to try and avoid the forums because bickering back and forth about the details isn't productive for me or my customers. Everyone is going to develop an oppinion about me one way or the other and any additional posts from me on this subject wont change that. I appreciate the opportunity to participate in this subject and wish you all the best. I hope to enjoy future threads on this board once I have been able to get caught up and have more free time. Best, -Michele |

This is not the place. Just my 2 cents. |
