One thing I have never liked about doing "Tossed Out Deck" is that someone in the audience can just lie and say "no you didn't name my card".
So by accident tonight I came up with this out. One lady insisted that she chose the King of Clubs (which isn't even in my three way force deck that I use). So I just looked at her very sincerely and told her I knew she was lying, and that I could prove it. She of course asked how I could prove it. I then told her that before the show I had removed the King of Clubs from the deck and put it in my wallet for use in another routine later in the show. I then performed "Bang On" which I just happened to have set up in my sports coat and produced the King of Clubs. It brought down the house and put my heckler in her place. (all in good fun of course) And if anyone had asked about why I never did the trick with the King of Clubs I would have just said "I just did, what you want me to do it again?" I will always carry "Bang On" when doing the Tossed Out Deck from now on!

Well thanks but to be honest it was just a fluke the night it happened. I guess you could say I was thinking on my feet (and lucky to have had Bang On with me), the next time I perform Tossed Deck I will be "thinking ahead" I guess. : )

Can you have the person show the card to a person next to them? This could help to keep them honest.

Yeah you could of course, but to be honest I have had so few problems with it I do not do that because I want to keep the flow of the routine going. But yes you absolutly could do that.

Another out: Have an Invisible Deck on hand. Ask the spectator "What card were you thinking of?" When the answer take out the Invisible Deck and say this is your insurance policy, reveal their card reversed in the deck.

Wow great come back for that! I have to admit I've never had a problem with a spectator saying it wasn't their card. Normally they are so baffled I got it they just stare and sit down. Especially when the other people start to sit it almost feels like peer pressure to them.
Thanks for the tips, Eric |

I had a similar experience and simply said "5 out of 6 isn't too bad".
MAGIC HAPPENS !

Great on your feet thinking there. Of course, it goes to show that having the spec briefly show a card around is a good idea.
