A number of books, especially older ones, use the word "feke" or "fêke". I can tell from context what is meant, but I can't find the word in any English or French dictionary.
What's with the word "feke"? Does anyone know where it comes from? Or how it entered the magical lexicon? Thanks John

"Feke" is an older variation of "fake."
A "Gimmick" is usually unseen. A "Fake" is seen, but misunderstood.

Thank you. That's a nice distinction. Do you know where the word comes from?

Thanks. Not decisive, but a start, perhaps.
