I agree a reunion would be wonderful! Our class was undeniably a class of elite performers, I was humbled and honored to be apart of such a class.
For those wondering what reunion we speak of, it was a class with the great zen master of side show Harley Newman, I Highly recommend anyone one interested in this part of the craft to seek out his sage advice and instruction. I have to say Harley opened my eyes and showed me a brand new world in which I have embraced with open arms. Rupert Thank you for the kind words! I have been spending a great deal of time working on my body and mind exercising both. LOL the less weight on my frame the more comfortable and confidant I am with those swords. Not to mention the light diet with the blowtorch ; ). Which I have to say was an amazing and gracious gift given to me by the great Danny Borneo at Harleys' class. Danny where ever you are my friend again I can not thank you enough for your gift of the mechanics of the blowtorch act to add to my act. I hope you are pleased with how I have constructed the routine, incorporated and placed it. For those of you who have not seen or heard of Danny Borneo you will! Do yourself and favor seek him out and watch him with his crew. They have a world that one not only sees but will experience. Reed |

Really nice stuff. Is that a bed of swords forming the base of your sword ladder? Good idea.
And I'll second the things you said about Danny, and all of Olde City Sideshow--good folks, all.

It is exciting stuff. As far as I know, it makes you one of only 4 people who are currently doing the blowtorch stunt. It has always gotten great reactions in my show and I know you will do great things with it! I was sad to have missed Harley's workshop, I was looking forward to hanging out with you, Danny, Harley and the rest of the gang! Regardless, I hope to see you soon! Jeremy

I actually, I miscounted and the original count should have been five (although I am not sure one of those five claims to have done it, really did do it--I think it may have been a PR stunt). I was unaware of Oe-Arm Bob and Ryan Stock. So, not that I am keeping a running count, it seems it is up there with maybe 7 people. Whatever the number, it is a small one and Reed should be proud. I hope that he gives it the drama it deserves rather than using it as a "throw-away", which is mostly how I have seen it (when I have seen it or heard it described by others) performed.

Let me clarify my last post. I should have changed the word "hope" in the last sentence to "know". (Mostly, when I have seen the blowtorch used, it has been as a single throw-away item. I doubt that is how Reed performs it.)
Historically, it has been used as an entire act. So, in modern times, for the most part, I have seen the act dumbed down". Although I have NOT seen Danny's (terrific) version and he is a great showman, as is Reed. I look forward to seeing Reed perform it in person. I am sure he and Danny can elevate this terrific stunt from a bit piece back to its rightful place as a jaw dropping, moving and amazing stunt. Reed is a terrific magician and performer.

Aw shucks guys!! Thanks for the kind words, yes a lot of research and development went into that (Jeremy was a huge part of that r&d) and I'm confident that Reed will be doing great things with it as you can already see from the clip. Actually Ryan (aka Rupert although not the Rupert further up in the thread, the one previously with Jim Rose and from the scifi channel show Guinea Pig) is where I got the bug to start researching it from, I'd say about a little over a year ago now and it's been part of my act since (Jeremy might be able to clarify dates on that one). I had some short interactions with Ryan via email to just brush over some questions I had. I also was not aware of Bob. I have a feeling in the coming years this stunt may start to see more "use" (that's my way of using a Café friendly word). But let this explanation be proof as to how I myself came about it and how long I've been using it.
