Hi JSBLOOM,
The Birthday Wishes effect on the DVD is done with only one Deck. It is the version that uses a different method from the Chosen Method. You need to know their birthday for that one (which you simply ask them for) because the card they end up with is the one that falls on their special birthday number. They don't actually name a card in that version but rather you take their private information of their birthday and then use that number to find that card. It is the addition of their personal info from them on this effect that makes it so strong as their birthdate is used to find the card saying "Happy Birthday". I hope this helps, Tony

The Happy Birthday effect on this dvd is great. And what I love about it is it's easy once you see how to do it. It is one of my favorites from a list of nice effects on there. But I will say the Destiny one is really good as well.
You can't go wrong. Good magic to all. Eric |

Hiya gumbystock,
I'm really glad that you like Destiny's Number. I think others will get some miles out of it if they work for the right crowd. At least I hope so anyway . I just supplied the plot and patter. The handling is all Tony's and I think he did a great job with it. Have fun, Justin. |

Hi Justin,
Yeah I like it a lot. In fact I ordered the Gypsy deck and an old looking box from Cardshark just to do this trick. I like it that much. Thanks again, Eric |

Hi Eric,
Thanks so much for the complement. I hope it plays well for you and others. I would love to hear stories I have to admit I'm a bit jealous though. I've had my eye on one of those card boxes for a few weeks now. They look gorgeous. I think the extra props add greatly to this type of routine. I've said it before and I will say it again, Tony is a real joy to brainstorm with. He is also one of the nicest fellows I have come across in a while as well. The whole experince was completly great. Best of luck, Justin |

Hey guys,
Just chiming in here. Thanks again for the great support from all here on the Café for bringing the Chosen to fruition. As far as Destiny's Number, Justin is a very talented and extremely clever dude as you can see from the DVD, Destiny's Number is one of those really special, intimate routines that you can have a lot of fun with for those extra special moments. I am very fortunate to know Justin and without his brainstorm, Destiny's Number would never have been! I look forward to jamming more magic with you Justin! Tony Chris

Hi Justin and Tony,
I will let you know how it goes with the new size cards and the box. I measured out what the size of the cards are and I think it will be easy. I'm purposely NOT doing Destiny's Number until I get the cards and box because I want to practice it with the cards I'll be using only. It works better for me to practice only with what I'm going to use. So it's like a double wait for me. And I know you guys know what that's like. As far as Tony being nice? You know I just get that feeling he is. Anyone in magic who gets an idea and wants to share it with fellow magicians is a special person to me. It shows guys like you and Tony aren't caught up with the "look what I can do and you can't" attitude. And that is refreshing to see. So far I've met some real good people on The Magic Café and that's great. Thanks again guys and when my cards and box come in I'll let you know all about ok? From what I hear it's been sent. Eric |

Good effect...
Can the deck be fully shown after performing "The Chosen" ? I think this is a minor issue but... |

However,it is not the fact that YOU fully show the deck after performing 'The Chosen' routines....it is that the GUEST'S PERCEIVE that you are fully showing the deck as normal... It takes a wee bit of practice to make it 'absolutely' convincing...BUT...that little bit of practice is so worthwhile.Believe me,it is super easy. Also,if you are a novice you learn things that are useful generally. I have been killing with this at my Restaurants, and I am only performing the Birthday version [for now]...It's a perfect guest pleaser!Everyone present flips when they see the 'Happy Birthday Card'! Thank-you Tony Chris for helping me enhance the Birthday experience for my guests.Everyone is happy..including the Restaurant owner's and GM's. Rich Hennessey |

Hi Rich,
It is very cool to hear that you are wowing them at your regular working restaurant gigs! I bet you have made the trick "your" signature and I can imagine that the patrons are left with a great feeling of wonder when you use their birthday to find the special birthday card. Well done and I want to thank you for posting that and sharing it with us on the Café. Tony

To everyone,
I've been practicing the Chosen now in front of spectators for a few days. And I have to say one thing. It is strong without a doubt, but as you start to feel the cards more and you know how far you can spread and what you can do---man it gets even better! If you don't know what I mean yet you will ok? This is a lot of fun to work with. Good magic to all, Eric |

One other thing. On Happy Birthday I actually cut off some cards and hand half to my spectator and have them mix them behind their back while I appear to do the same. Then I take the cards back and ask their birth date and perform the effect. I used this on my sister and it threw her off real good. BTW my sister is one of those people that knows magic from helping me and can normally kinda guess how something is done.
I know there is no real need to "mixing" the cards I just want to let you know this works for me and it is an option that is easy to do with this FANTASTIC effect. Good magic to all, Eric |

What you could also do is by using some cover, actually shuffle your 'half' of the deck in front of them for even more of a convincer. It just needs a small set up. PM me if you don't follow what I mean - its very straightforward because even I can do it. |
