Ok with some of the threads I figured it would be useful to do a roundup of successful Blogging. along with a walk through of GOOD addons for wordpress (also to be a short plug for marketing master group where I teach) <-- THE ONLY PLUG PART OF POST
So what makes a blog so successful in your internet marketing strategy - RSS (Real Simple Syndication) This lets your viewers get the information your giving our the way they want it.. My Party planning tips and cupcake of the week posts are VERY popular with MOM's and a few that I have done parties with recently admit that they read them on their cell phones. (wish they would use feedburnner or technoratti to subscribe) - Fresh content distributed to various website that Google watches.. Blogs have a PING list. This is a list that gets a notification that you have updated content. My current ping list has over 200 sites listed in it. At the bottom I will put in a short list to get you going. This KILLS the long wait that most web developers still claim that it takes to get indexed with major search engines.. Let me explain.. You have a good ping list (a short one that is good is below) You write a post that is designed to rank for a specific keyword phrase "Atlanta Balloon Artist".. You POST!! Now you have websites telling their visitors that you have updated with a excerp of your content. Because THOUSANDS of blogs are listed in these place GOOGLE watches these places as they update and follows links. Meaning.. Google found and indexed your site within 10 hours of your first post. I've even see people who are skilled in writing good SEO'd copy get to the front page of google for their keyword phrase within a few days with this system of content generation. -Release of content per keyword phrase is FAST and EASY To release info is as simple as filling out a form just like you do to post on this thread.. Or you can take the time to learn some basic HTML (how to use a table and H1-6 tags) to give much more detailed formatting. What are some Plugins you NEED to be using? - ALL in One SEO This allows you to control key parts of ON page SEO (the title, keyword, description) http://semperfiwebdesign.com/category/po......plugins/ - G-Lock Dbl opt In Manager Newsletter Management at its best http://www.glockeasymail.com/wordpress-e......ription/ -ZD FLV player Lets you add Flash video to your website EASY (the only time FLASH is good) http://www.proloy.me/blog/ -Ad Rotator I'm not using it right now (have a artist building banner ads for things I am working on) but you can use this to post YOUR banner ads on your own website.. Do you have a ebook, or a guide for parents, then put a banner ad for it on your site. http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archi......mically/ Wordpress Design is Simple but some technical skill is needed.. if there are any web developers who specialize in this that read these I would love for you to post who you are. or PM me and I will add you to this.. (I am not affiliated with any plugin mentioned in this post, and they are all plugins that I use) This should give you a reason to use Wordpress and a good starting point for it.. I will answer as many questions as I have knowledge of if you have any... OHHHH and before I forget ... the GOLD that some read all that for LOL the Ping List http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2 http://api.feedster.com/ping http://ping.blo.gs/ http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping http://api.moreover.com/ping http://api.my.yahoo.com/RPC2 OK waiting for some feedback

I had a recent experience that underscores the power of blogs related to search engines.
I created a new site. Obviously, I wanted this site to be found and listed in the search engines. I have a blog on another site that was already listed in Google. I created a blog entry there with a link to the new site. Within a few hours, that blog entry was picked up by Google. Later that same day, my new site was in Google as well. I knew the blog post would lead the search engines to the new site, but I was amazed at the speed. Within a week, the new site was in Google, Yahoo and Ask. (Still not in MSN, but they'll get it eventually.) -Brad |

Mike,
I might be mis-reading your post, Mike, but doesn't Wordpress already do this automatically? Quote:
WordPress automatically notifies popular Update Services that you've updated your blog by sending a XML-RPC ping each time you create or update a post. In turn, Update Services process the ping and updates their proprietary indices with your update. Now people browsing sites like Technorati or Sphere can find your most recent posts! So this is already built in, by default. As for the rest of the post, I think the main point of fresh content is what's key (and what we've discussed in the other threads already started). This is why Google picks up on fresh content so fast and one more reason I'll restate how much I love Wordpress (and underscores the results Brad just mentioned... Thanks again for sharing, Brad!). And you are right about designing the Wordpress sites. All that is needed is some CSS knowledge. I don't design sites for people. After all, just doing my own sites and my wife's sites (she's another artist) is enough with my schedule! But I've done a TON with CSS and it is pretty easy to pick up with the magic library that is Google! Though its important to know the BIG difference between just knowing CSS and being able to create a GOOD DESIGN and having good content without improper grammar or typos! *grin* Thanks for sharing your post, though! It was very kind of you to do so! Good luck with your new company! Scott |

I avoid designing sites like the plague... but at times I do for friends
the ping service built into Wordpress only pings the 1 site automatically which is great, by adding to that list you have the ability to have MORE inbound links to your site from various feeds online spelling and grammar (well I am interviewing someone this week.. that's a spot I really lack at) .. if you add techoratti directly to your ping list there is no delay in your post and them feeding it .. vrs JUST having 1 ping source.. soo I don't think you misread what I was saying as much as ya didn't catch the end result of having MANY sites to ping.. I believe the ping list can be found under settings > writing at the very bottom Brad... imagine doing specific keyword based content for a blog post now that ppl in Technoratti and such favorite.. it has to potential to give you massive search engine weight... and can allow you to focus traffic to specific pages within your website... Example check trends.google.com write a post that is geared toward some of the top searches currently being done. In that post (and the article needs to have spin about what you do) Example nc lottery is huge today.. so a post name could be Better than winning the NC Lottery, a Magic show for YOU.. and then talk about the lottery and how ppl dream about winning then segway into how that's not attainable but a winning show like the one (you do) will.. then go into your show... with a huge ping list you now have 200 sites linking to you wit "NC Lottery" in the title... in that post link to your home page with the text being your Title or a keyword phrase your home page wants to rank for.. What this does is simple You wrote a post that is a advertisement basically (dont write every post like this it keeps people from following you.. 1 of my clients does it about once a month and is very successful with it) that post is designed to get MASSIVE traffic.. and high rankings in the search engines.. the link on that page to your home page gets traffic not through the article but because the article did well in the search.. if you have a page ranking well and want another one to rank.. put a link.. this is WAY over simplified in link building and this shouldn't be overdone

One of my best friends introduced me to the world of blogging. He's been WILDLY successful with it. Many of you will know of him or know him personally and he's a genius with THOUSANDS of blogreaders.
He's now written a truly fantastic new eBook about blogging for entertainers and how to really boost business with it. I would recommend it for anyone and I would actually go as far as to say that it is, without doubt, one of the best 2 books I've read in the last few years. No question. All killer material with no filler. Anyway. Just an honest and straight forward recommendation. Have a look: http://tinyurl.com/cafubg Cheers, RT |
