Hey all,
Just wanted to drop a note to anyone who may want a unique chop cup. I just got mine from Frank over at Ambitiouscard.com and what a joy to use. The design of the cup along with the weight is good for me and my hands. I can't put pictures up, so check out his site for pictures. Also, this cup has a sense of wonder associated with it for me. Busking and table hopping are in my blood, so to have a cup that is strong enough to take these conditions is mandatory for me. This cup is heavier than I expected. It also came with a wonderful bag to carry it in. I do not know the full history of these cups, so if anyone can chime and add to that would be interesting. Cellini has contributed to the art of street magic and to have 'his' chop cup is also of interest to me. Dealing with Frank is great. His prices are helpful as well as his prompt email correspondance. I like to deal with the local shop and support guys on the net and I will be dealing with Frank much more. Anyone else have this cup? -Scott M. |

I've got the Cellini chop cup & have used it for outdoor (payed) gigs before a few times.
The Cellini cups are my favorite working cups...for much the same reason that you spoke of. I heard complaints that the stack leans, and that they won't hold 3 balls in the attic, but those things have never mattered to me. I like that they couldn't stick no matter how many times you drop them, and they have a fairly deep saddle so balls don't easily blow off the top. Plus, they are quite heavy. They get 5 stars from me (for whatever that's worth!) Oh...and they payed for themselves pretty quickly...so that's nice too |

Chad,
Couldn’t agree with you more about the Cellini cups and their specifications. I don’t use a chop cup, but I’ve used the standard set for quite some time and they are terrific. You are right about the loose stack. I think it is actually an advantage. They will never bind, even though they may be slightly “out of round” after being dropped. I don’t abuse my props, but they do take a beating from heavy use. The Cellinis are built like a truck and hold up well with the rigors of festival/street use. Anyone who is considering a new set of cups, if they get a set of the Cellinis from Frank Starsini, they’ll be glad they did. Five stars from me too! Regards, Gerald |

I should be getting 5 more sets of cellini cups (not the chop cups) in the next month or so if anyone is interested.
I know I am. I always keep giving my own set away and this time I hope to keep one for myself for good.

If you are ever in Zürich, you owe it to yourself to go to Hörbi's Zauberladen Zürich. You will find that Hörbi is a genial host, and the shop is worth visiting.

That would be great. We've become great business partners but never met.
He seems like a great guy and I hear that he's a great entertainer too.

I am not familiar with cups binding, but is this common?

If you drop a cup on floor it can make the round opening a bit "oval" which could lead to the cups "binding".
sometimes if cups are not manufactured / designed well the shape of the cup itself can lend itself to a "binding". this can be caused by several things. right out of the box, phoenix, andycomic, Ammar cups all "stick" unless you're lucky. that's a design problem.

I have a Cellini cup set and I am thinking about ading the chop cup. What does it look like inside? Is it inspectable without any gimmick trace?
Best,

My Chop Cup doesn't have any tell of being gimmicked as far a spectator can tell. A fellow cup handler will notice it. I have handed it out with a regular ball and let them swirl the ball around and for them, that is an inspection. I have them pour the ball out and do what I will be doing with the ball in a few seconds.
I use an adjustable RnT2 ball(s) with my cup. Other balls do not hold dependably. Hope this helps. -Scott M. |

Scott M: Thanks! Could you just clarify one thing; the bottom of the cup (inside) is it seamless, I meen no traces of an inlay of some sort? Thanks!

I would say there IS a trace. If you did a side by side comparison, you'd notice a difference. It's not done with the same quality of a Riser cup, for instance.
I believe the insert is glued in with epoxy. But I'm just guessing.
