I watched 2 teenagers get...distressed...and then vomit after each swallowed a tablespoon of Dave's Insanity Sauce.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

It doesn't happen too often, but I have ruined a plate of food by accidentally getting a few drops out of the bottle more than I wanted. Dave's is powerful.
Of course, I ate the food anyway. It just didn't taste very good. Too much burn doesn't taste good. My favorite sauce is Blair's After Death, because I like the flavor and it has just the right amount of heat. I also love the flavor of Tobasco, but once you've gotten used to a bit more heat, Tobasco doesn't seem to have any heat anymore. Hey Bill, if you only end up growing one single chili, what do you do with it? Seems too precious just to throw into a soup. |

I am not very much into hot stuff, jalopenos are quite enough.
My father-in-law loves hot stuff, nothing is hot enough for him so for his last birthday, I bought him a sauce with 1,000,000+ Scoville units. That was hot enough (but he loved it). I wanted to taste it and to my great surprise I was able to taste the smoked chili and all, it was not just a burning sensation. I didn't expect to taste anything.

I want some Thai "mouse ****" peppers.
Now you need to grow some of them Naga Viper peppers

I once ate a pretty good sized habanaro pepper on a bet. Ever since then I haven't really gone for the super hot stuff.

I have several different hot sauces including: Pepperika (from Michigan, and mighty tasty), Cholula (my favorite all-around hot sauce, not hot, but good flavor), Endorphin Rush, Mad Dog 357, Dave's Crazy Caribbean, Dave's Insanity Sauce, Dave's Ultimate Insanity Sauce (much hotter than Dave's Insanity). I still haven't tried the new Dave's Ghost Pepper Jolokia Sauce, but I will soon.
I once put Dave's Insanity Sauce (about the same amount as a Taco Bell sauce packet) on one taco. I finished about 3/4 of the taco, but my stomach couldn't handle any more. I once bet a guy at my previous job in a grocery store that he couldn't take a full teaspoon of Dave's Insanity Sauce. I think the bet was for a dollar or just a gallon of milk or something. After he put the teaspoon full in his mouth, I told him he had to swish it all around before he swallowed it, which he did. It was so funny because he said his mouth was totally numb even 20 minutes later. I also make my own custom blend of hot pepper powder with many different dried hot peppers, which I use to season many things. The blend includes Anaheim, Banana, Fresno, Serrano, Jalapeño, Cayenne, & Habanero. |

There's a hot sauce/gift shop in Leavenworth WA that has a challenge with their pure capsicum sauce. You have to do a drop and not drink water for a certain period or something. I don't really remember. I don't think there was a prize. It was just for publicity.
I bought my buddy some of that Mad Dog for his birthday last year and he made us burritos. Was awesome. Kryptonite is one of my faves. Perfect burn to flavor ratio. The 2nd hottest stuff in my cupboard right now is actually the Code Red sauce they make at Flamin' Joe's. It's not labelled or anything, you can just give them 5 or 6 bucks to put some in a bottle for you. My bottle's been aging for a year so it should be extra intense by now. Have also had the Habanero fritters sweet habanero sauce they use in that challenge in Portland. Haven't done the challenge yet, my buddy brought me a couple of them back from his trip.

I had also used to have a small bottle of pure capsicum oil, but I didn't find it to have much heat compared to the sauces. I squeezed a few drops directly on my tongue, but didn't feel much heat. I was disappointed.
The other cool thing I noticed when I was cutting some habaneros to dry for my pepper powder was that even after washing my hands several times, I could still taste the heat when eating foods with my hands and licking my fingers. This was true even a couple of days later. |
