I recommend getting guys book Drawing Room Deceptions which includes all the Hollingworth routines you're interested in.

There is also a version in the book that came with Quartet gimmick by Guy. It is a lot easier than the original waving the aces.

That version (with the quartet gimmick) is also taught on the "Convention at the Capital '98" video. Hollingworth also teaches his version of "oil and water".

The only thing with the book is that some of the effects seem impossible to learn and perform. However, after watching the video, it is clear that you can learn every single effect.

Zackary,
I own the video and it is really quite good although many of the effects taught are heavy on sleights. I learned "Waving the Aces" (actually Jacks) from this video and Guy does a really good job explaining each effect. His Oil and Water is great and uses the same "move" in his Waving the Aces.

The only negative about this video, and its a minor negative, is that it was done in black and white and not in color. It was odd to see an Oil and Water effect in black and white where you couldn't see the color of the cards.

Like I said its a small negative and shouldnt detract anyone from getting this excellent video. Guy uses my favorite Oil and Water and Triumph routines and both are taught in "London Collection".

Excellent video. I think it's worth owning even if you already have "Drawing Room Deceptions." It might help to clarify some sleights and things by being able to see them. And it's a nice departure from the look of usual magic videos.

Both of his videos are very well filmed and interesting. Those who like Guy Hollingworth should get his book and videos.

The London Collection is a fantastic video. I have Drawing Room Deceptions and the video is a great supplement just to see how amazing these effects can look.

Hollingworth does do a fine just of teaching his "waving the aces" on the "convention '98" tape. I can see how it would help some learn the optical alignment. For others, the book does teach it quite clearly with a lot of really excellent illustrations to help you out.

Both his tapes(London Collection and Routines) are awesome, they work great as a companion to his book. The quality of the videos reflects the quality of his book and his marketed effects.

London Collection is a beautifully shot video, done in black and white, as was mentioned earlier. Guy does a terrific job teaching the effects.

Drawing Room Deceptions is a great book, but can be a bit tough for some to learn from (it IS quite dry), so the video explains and illustrates the effects very clearly. As with all of Guys stuff, it is HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED.

I strongly disagree that the book is dry. On the contrary, I find it to be quite colorful. As for the video, even though it is black and white, I find it more colorful than most of the videos I have seen for teaching sleight of hand.

Waving The Aces and Oil & Water are my favorites for sure. They also happen to be the two easiest as well. I really like the Homing Card routine. The In-The-Hands Triumph is difficult but worth the effort. There's a four ace routine on there that I don't think is in his book. The Travellers and Cards-Thru-Jacket effects are a little out of my league, but Guy makes them look good.

Received the Video almost hot off the camera when it first came out. Absolutely one of the greatest tapes ever, probably because Guy isone of the greatest magi-performers ever. I didn't even bother learning the rutines, jsut seeing gthem was thrilling. Besides, the tape relfects Guy's and manager's "class". There ia a wonderful minor thread of walking around London--in a Tux, if I recall--stopping at various sposts and talking personally to you to show you a trick(or rather, a "miracle") You'll love it.
I got mine from Guy's sebsite. If that's not available try Internatinal Magic in London.

Don't overlook Guy's perfectly unique, totally different, ingenius, and I believe greatly simplified take on Vernon's 4 cards to 4 pockets. Is that the Travelers? Lose track of which name goes where. They do not load from the deck, a la Vernon and all other variations with which I am familiar

I wish that Guy will consider his video series and convert them into DVD version. I believe that this will help many others to benefit from his great work. Smile
