I am working on My Dr. of Ministry at Seminary and my research is on the relationship between magic and religion throughout history. I now need to do some serious research on the history and development in the field of Gospel Magic and wonder if any of you out there know of any good sources to check out. You can respond here, PM me, or e-mail directly to revmike@ptd.net.
I would appreciate all the input I can get. I have already contacted some of the major Gospel performers today for the contemporary piece but I also need to trace the origins. Thank you. M. Reist
The magic is not in our sleights and illusions, but instead in our ability to bring love and joy.

He is particularly known for a trick where he turned three short ropes into a single long rope to demonstrate the concept of the Trinity, ala professors nightmare. hope this helps. if you would like any other info let me know. sam

David Kaye's book gives a history of Gospel magic here in the United States...highly recommended reading for children's performers.
