Mention the name Eric DeCamps, and the following images come to mind: engaging, personable and mystifying.
This sleight-of-hand master is bringing his critically acclaimed "One Man Magic Show" to the 2009 S.A.M. National Convention, which takes place July 15-18. He'll perform it at the Greg Frewin Theater in Niagara Falls Canada, so be sure to bring your passport to the convention - you won't want to miss this highly skilled and entertaining magical artist. Marlene: What percent (approximately) of the convention events will be in Canada verses Buffalo? Thanks

Hello Denis:
The schedule is subject to change, but it is looking like we will spend most of Friday on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. The rest of the time, Weds - Saturday, will be in Buffalo. Mark Weidhaas SAM 2009 National Convention Registrar |

The trip to Canada is optional. It will be an all day excursion.
The tentative plans are to leave by bus at about 9 a.m. Friday (July 17) for the 25-mile trip to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls for some sightseeing. We are scheduled to see 2 afternoon shows: a special performance of "Beyond Belief," Greg Frewin's award-winning, Las Vegas style magic and illusion show; and Eric DeCamps's "One Man Magic Show," his classy and artistic presentation that has wowed audiences in NYC. Both take place at the Greg Frewin Theater. We will return to Buffalo by bus, but those details have not yet been finalized. To travel to Canada, you will need proof of citizenship and identity - normally a passport. American citizens who don't have passports and don't plan international air travel can obtain a cheaper, more portable alternative: passport cards. For details, visit http://www.travel.state.gov. I can't wait for July, either! Marlene Clark S.A.M. National Secretary |

Thanks Marlene. The "optional" trip is one you will want to go on, as I don't think there are any formal plans with the convention if you don't - it will be "on your own" time.
I also can't wait. |

I just got a note from one of our Canadian magicians. He says that many Canadians are planning to attend. There are Rings, but not any SAM Assemblies in the area. With the Convention registration you also get an SAM membership. Maybe there will be enough interest to start a new Assembly! He also confirms that Buffalo and Niagara Falls are both beautiful places to be in July.

Warning :If anyone has had ANY involvement with the law in the States in the last 10 years, they may very well not be able to cross the border into Canada. For example, a arrest for anything which COULD constitute a crime in Canada is enough to keep the visitor OUT. Not to suggest that this applies to me. There is an extensive and expensive "rehabilitation" process which must be undergone to clear up the problem.
