Here's my reaction from tonights performers. Very impressed with Rocco's Routine , well done ! Dan Sperry is always a treat to see as is Fielding West ! What did Tom Burgoon do that was magic ( change bag was the main effect on NATIONAL TV , HMMM) ???? Im clearly lost there. Is it just me or is the Aaron Radatz Illusion "slicer" just not very deceptive , her hand was way too far to th side waving ?
Im looking forward to next week though : McBride & The Amazing Johnathan 2 of my favorite acts in the business.

Rocco is awesome. The smoke to milk to ice cream is spectacular. Dan was great again, too bad he couldn't use his regular music

Rocco was great. I agree my favorite is definitely the production of the ice cream. His routine was very creative. Dan was really good. I also really liked fielding west. The slicer illusion was very obvious, even my grandparents figured it out.
Kevin james was really fun and made the broom suspension really funny.

Kevin James did a nice broom suspension routine and Fielding West was good.

I thought that was the best episode of the four...the commercial for next week that they ran was a rerun too, so I don't know if they made a mistake or if it is a rerun...
The Magic Café's own Living Illusions did a great job too, they had me on edge |

Dan Sperry, Rocco and Living Illusions were great! Yours, Doug L.

IMHO of the three out of four episodes I have seen, this one was the strongest overall. With one exception, the magic in this episode was the strongest and most mystifying. The performers, for the most part, were strong and played well to the audience.
If anyone bad mouths Burgoon because he used a change bag, you just don't get it. The comments, previously, regarding his volunteer mgmt. and audience rapport nail it. Ridgeway and Johnson provided a great finish. The camera work showing the genuine concern and suspense felt by the audience was spot on. |

Does anyone know what dice routine was performed during one of the intermittent closeup spots. The one where the magician had 2 people take 2 dice and hide them in their hands. He then told them which hands had which colored dice. Is this a marketed effect or just based on some principle? Thanks

I read somewhere that the music for the acts is not what the audience hears. The producers dub alternative music over the original score, which sometimes is out of sync with what the performers are doing. Can anyone confirm this? I've seen Dan Sperry do his Lifesaver through the neck act to the Perry Como song, Magic Moments. I wonder if that is what Dan used for the show.
I liked the Jan 26th installment. This show is getting better and better. |

Dan spoke at length about using the Perry Como music in the act and other have talked about the fact that the music is rarely the same as what they normally use because of licensing issues. I'd have to go back and listen to it again, but I think that Dan talked about it in our interview with him as well.

Here's Dan performing to Magic Moments:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmdnXXf9XdM I remember seeing this even before Masters of illusion. He is definately the most intriguing performer on the show. The epitome of showmanship. He got as much impact out of a lifesaver and a piece of dental floss as any major stage illusion! The only thing I questioned was whether he should have chewed up the lifesaver or not. On the one hand the chewing was dramatic and added interest. On the other, not chewing it would have been more logical in the routine. It would have looked like the lifesaver just penetrated his throat vs having to reassemble first. Overall, another great performance. Here's one more great performance by Dan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPOOKHUdsBo&feature=related Gotta love the sense of humor. |

I agree , Dan needs to keep the lifesaver whole because the logic of it bing chewed up then back whole on th floss doesn't fit together ! that's just my opinion , what do other think ?
Also , Burgoon doing this trick with balloons and a change bag may get laughs with MAGICIANS but lay people just thought it merely stunk ! I mean come on , 50 dollar birthday magicians have change bags when they show up at your house to do a kids bday , but on NETWORK National TV , come on people ! Again , ROCCO is smooth as can be , what a well designed routine And as for the dice , I think this is a Child's Play concept based on the marketed effect by Ron Frank !
