Has anybody been using this? How clean is it? Any comparison with Derren Brown's effect? Is it a 100% hit? Tried a search on the Café but couldn't find anything...

Thanks for your help!

I've been working on it a little bit, but I'm fairly new to this side of the craft and don't trust my memory enough to work it live.

One thing I have tried is (as suggested) to work it over the phone. Thus far I have not grasped the delivery very well, as simple as it SEEMS to be. I still think it's a pretty sharp method though.

Anybody have any tips for memorizing "it" I'd love a PM.

I will say this:

And take it for what it's worth from little old me...

I have always shied away from this approach but I think this scripting transcends the genre.

Now in the face of full disclosure, I have yet to use it much. But the presentation gives me confidence to kind of step out on a limb.

One thing for sure, you can always trust Mick's routines. He is a friend of mine, so keep that in mind, but let me just say that anything he releases has been worked out in front of hundreds if not thousands of international audience members.

His post with Disney demands it.

I have to agree fully with Don.
Mick's work is well tested and very well scripted. He is a member here so just send him a PM I am sure he will answer any and all questions you may have.
No one said it would be easy, or did they?

Ben...my apologies for not responding sooner. I have been using 'Out On A Limb' regularly since I developed it nine years ago. The early version of it was published in Steve Beam's "Semi-Automatic Card Tricks Vol. 4" in the Errata section at the back of the book (ie. WELL-hidden). Since then, I have made adjustments and improvements in the presentation that cloak the method even more. You can learn more about it by visiting my website: http://www.mickayreswares.com. Now, to answer your questions:

'Out On A Limb' is quite clean.

I am not familiar enough with Derren Brown's work to answer that question.

Yes, 'Out On A Limb' delivers 100% hits.

Joe...If I understand your question, Bryn's wonderful 'Seven' (from the Safwan Papers) is completely different in approach, presentation and method. Apples and oranges.

Thank you ALL for your kind comments about 'Out On A Limb'.

Warm regards,
Mick Ayres

The thing I really like about Mick and his posts is that every time he posts, I get a friendly (and re-enforcing) five word reminder about what it takes to perform great entertaining magic. That is: Study, Practice, Script, Rehearse, Perform." Words to live by.

(I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.)

It is POWERFUL! I've also been working on CAST AWAY by Mick. I highly recommend all his material because not only is it well thought out, but the scripting is fantastic. If you have spent much time in mentalism you understand that "what you say" and the "way you say it" is two-thirds the battle. You can take Mick's material and re-work it to fit you but by reading his handling you will already have an understanding of the way to present it in it's most effective manner. His routines are not theory and have been worked out in front of discriminating crowds.
