This is not my video.
However, the filmer of this control was asking around whether this is new or not, and I am not sure whether he has a Café account, so I am posting it here. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=VDKbFMgkRV8 If this is not original, then it'd be great if you could mention name and the creator of the original. Thanks, Thomas |

That looks really nice! Although... when you say you can control it to any spot in the deck, does that mean you could have a card returned, have somebody name a number, and have the card almost instantly in that spot, or do you need to know the number more in advance?

As far as I know, the position must be known the the performer before the card is replaced into the deck..
BUT, because I do not know the methodology of this particular control, take my words with a grain of salt. |

Can I take them with a pintch, one grain is just too small.

Without knowing the details I couldn't say. Am I allowed to post my thoughts on what is happening?

Alrighty, long as it's cool.
Seems to me that you don't actually have control as to where it goes, but rather you know where it ends up (which could be top, bottom, or anywhere in between). That's a little different. It's still an interesting idea though, though I recall seeing half the work, minus the actual shuffle, in print already, possibly Simon Aronson's work. I suppose though, now that I think about it, you COULD control the card to a chosen position, if you wanted, as long as you were good at estimation. Ben

I have basicly played around with this exact thing, but I'm pretty sure I just saw it in Youells Lecture notes in one of the effects.

I may be wrong about seeing itall, I think it was a trick that he said fooled Jennings but sorry I don't know the name.

The trick you are talking about is The Perfect Choice in Steve Youell's "Weapons of Mass Destruction" lecture notes. Great effect, but I don't see any mention of this control in the explanation.

I forgot to mention that the effect does use a straddle faro, but that's the only similarity I see to the control shown in that video.
