I would like to hear from anyone that's got lous or wanlus mask that is no ventriloquist. do you use music ???

I use music. I put the mask on someone and have them song a song. It gets a great reaction everytime. I use a Wanlu mask and I love it!

Ive ordered Wanlu's mask and Im waiting for its arrival. I hope to post up a video or a pic soon!!

Meanwhile, Im not a seasoned Vent or anything, but as Wanlu can vouch, I can be a collector and a huge FAN of the art! (though I'm getting the mask for my shows) Unfortunately, I would like to pose a question here... Why are most, of the routines I see on youtube, or websites, Very similar to that of Paul Zerdin? hello to your right, left, centre, sexy hello... and the ending of the routine with the song and dance. honestly, I don't know if I can do any better... For I might just end up ending it with song and dance too... For it's highly entertaining. Still, I wonder, how differently can the mask be used guys... how creative can we be?

While it's wrong to copy, even Paul's act includes a lot of influence from others. If you watch Lucas do the mask, you can hear/see some of the vocal and material that is reflected in Zerdin's act.

The voice is polar opposite, an old comedy bit. The dance mention can be seen in Human Puppet routines prior to Paul's too. I saw Ken Groves do a non-mask routine with an audience volunteer about the person doing ballet back in the early 90's - long before Zerdin was ever on TV. I'm certain it goes back further than Ken. Same for the singing portion.

When I started, I re-worked some of Zerdin's references, and created a two mask routine. As time has progressed, the bit has morphed more into my own mix. While I'm certain it still shows influences of Paul and Ron, it also makes use of material I've created, ad-libbed and re-written with the permission of other acts.

Unfortunately, Paul's mask routine is probably the most viewed on Youtube, which is why a lot of people copy the bit. Paul's video becomes the instructions and some people use it word for word rather than try to make their own routine.

Having a great mask may be important, and in my opinion picking the right volunteer and having a schtick to go with it ...priceless.

I use a boley mask. I am working on a bit based on an old Bugs Bunny cartoon where a truck load of hats gets dumped and people's personality changes when the hat changes.

I have an Elmer Fudd hat, and am going to add in more so I can switch the personality on my volunteer.
