I'm looking for some liturature on reels, for use in close up or parlor settings, a friend suggested looking for any Duke Stern lecture notes, but wasn't sure if there was anything available. I am getting a couple reels to play with, and would like to learn some useful applications of Reel work. Thank you in advance for your suggestions, as I continue to suckle the vast knowledge here at the Café!

I'm also just starting to play around with reels. A book I've been meaning to pick up is Reel Magic by Albenice. You can find good info on it here:
http://topsmagic.com/topshop/product_inf......_id=4156 but it's cheaper here: http://www.hanklee.org/xcart/product.php?productid=6336 I'd like to find a SILENT reel that doesn't POP or SNAP when it hits the casing... |

I've just acquired "Reel Magic" by Albenice and another little book "Magic City Library of Magic vol 15 REELS: a Begining in magic" Both look like good starters. I sense that much more could be learned from hands on teaching from a real reel guy.

I use the badge reels from office supply stores. No one has ever ONCE heard them. Your coat and patter should muffle any noise easily. (However, avoid the cheap colorful ones at wally world as they tend to be clunky and not smooth)
