Lately I've been collecting a number of Okito-Nielsen and Okito-Williams pieces, as well as some of the oriental style props from Owen and a Gerlitz Okito-style die box. I love the look of the pieces and, particularly with the Okito-style apparatus, the brilliance in the conception of each piece.
I've become so enamoured with Okito that today I went to our Asian fine arts gallery and purchased a lovely Chinese cabinet to keep and display these pieces in. It's beautifully lacquered with red doors and drawers decorated with many subtle butterflies. If anyone's interested, I'll post some pics here after it's been delivered later this week, and after I've done a major re-organization of my magic den to fit it in. I think it will look beautiful with the Okito pieces in it and will do justice to the beauty of the pieces. Geoffrey

Does it have any secret drawers or compartments? Many such cabinets, both vintage and contemporary, do.

Donal,
Not that I detected when I bought it. When it arrives, I'll go over it carefully...thanks for the heads-up. Geoffrey

The beautiful Chinese cabinet for my Okito pieces arrived yesterday. Here are two pics of it, without any of the pieces inside--I'll post more next week when I've positioned it in my den and arranged the apparatus.

Here are two pics of the pieces inside the cabinet. In the first pic, there are mostly Okito-Nielsen pieces, some Okito-Williams pieces, a Gerlitz and a Milson-Worth:

They are beautiful, Ethan; I'm very lucky. The Okito-Nielsen pieces are real gems and I love using them as well.

Geoffry…. They are beautiful, just beautiful, you should be really proud of your babies. They are all works of art… the style and colors just blow me a way, I feel that I went time traveling, you don’t see many props like that today… at least I don’t. The last picture is now my screen saver.
Take care my friend, Bruce |

Bruce, I knew you'd appreciate them with your love of old-style props. The Okito pieces give me so much pleasure...they're so beautiful to look at and so much pleasure to use. Okito was a genius craftsman, and people like Norm Nielsen and Carl Williams carry on the tradition superbly...
My only problem now is I've run out of room in the new Chinese cabinet...I'll have to find another for the next lot of props! All very best, G

What a beautiful display!!! Seeing what you have and how you store and display it makes me feel like I've just been to a museum. Do you need a daughter? I'm available for adoption. :o)

Thank you so much, dsalley13! I love the historical aspect of much of my magic and it's great when others appreciate the same sort of approach. Adoption? Let me attend to the paperwork ...
