What is this about Holly and a gun?

I love Runnin' Bear! Too bad he loved lil' White Dove. I heard the Big Bopper was an excellent stand up. Buddy Holly can be played on any rock station today and it is valid music. He was also a stand up guy. I read a story where he took Little Richard home with him and his, Buddy's, father had a fit because Little Richard was black and pretty clearly gay and Buddy said that either Richard is welcomed and treated with respect or he'd leave and not return.

If you check the wikipedia entry, (yeah, I know) on the crash it talks about Holly's .22 pistol that was found 2 months after the crash. This seems to be the reason JP's son had his body exhumed. Some wondered if an accidental firearm discharge could have caused the crash. Also there was speculation that JP survied the crash at first because he was found much further from the wreckage than the others. When they exhumed his body, the examiner found that he died on impact.

What I've heard about JPs son is he is a loser that if not for his father being who he was he'd have nothing going on today.

After the exhumation, he actually gave the original casket to a museum and it is supposed to be auctioned on eBay. Talk abour morbid.

The crash happened here in Iowa, at Clear Lake. The Surf Ballroom where they played that night has been renovated and still hosts headline acts, though now many of them are country stars like Faith Hill and Brad Paisley.
