This is a packet trick from a few years back that I recently saw performed. I like both of them very much and they are quick, cool, visual tricks. I know they are not examinable, which I like to avoid, but these are great for the teenagers that don't want a long routine and story line.
I'm going to order it, but wanted to know about the gaffs (without any reveals). Once I have this trick, would gaff replacements be easy to make. I have split and made some of my own gaffs already. How many cards are gaffed for these two tricks? Any advice is greatly appreciated. PS: On a separate note, does anybody know of a similar, non-gaffed trick with an effect like this? |

Thanks!!! I beat you to it, but appreciate the reference. Once I saw it I went googling around and found that site with fenik's video. I really like the trick and will see if my local shop has it tomorrow, else will order it online. I was trying to figure out the gaffs or what extra cards were used. I guess I will see when I get the packet home.

You will have to order new Gimmicks as they wear out, isn't something you will be making on your own.

I just ordered mine, that's kind of a bummer about the gimmicks, it isn't somthing that can be made with the knowledge of card splitting huh?

Oh well. Its not the end of the world. I looked around and found several sites selling the trick, but nobody has replacement gaffs. Do you have to buy the complete trick again, or can somebody refer me to a site where the replacement gaffs are sold. Thanks.

Depending on the gaffs used (I won't know till the end of this week) you could probably get a hold of good old Martini. He's pretty good with makeing gaffs. I just recently got his DVD on card splitting and have been practicing. So I'm hopeing this effect will be somthing I can manage with that (because who really wants to pay $20 for the full effect again, especially when $15 of that is for the knowledge of the trick).

How often do you fellas go through cards? I've been using the same Color Monte and Ultimate 3-card Monte cards for like 15 years.

I realize most people don't have that issue - nor do I, anymore - but there are certainly reasons for needing frequent refills. |

But they're not treated with something that can wear out. Frans |

I just started back into magic (after about 8 years of not doing it) I like to think I take good care of my cards. But as the saying goes "**** happens!" =)

If you were really good at card splitting you would most likely be able to duplicate the Gaffs, but it wouldn't be easy, and you probably would be more apt to just buy new ones. Once you get it and see what would be required you would know what I mean.
I have posed this before, and I will post it again, if you want to keep gaffs in good condition while not in use this is the only way to go: http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-Magnetic......3&sr=8-6 You can get them at any baseball card dealer or online, you can buy them in bulk or individually. They will hold any poker sized packet trick which contains up to about 10 cards. My Wild Card, Red Sea Passover, and Poor Charlie all fit perfectly in them. These are better then any other leather or thin plastic storage sleeve. I even keep my Tagged gimicks in them, chain and all. I would recommend going to a shop and looking at them verses online, there are many types online and you want to make sure you get the big ones. But the link I provided will at least let you know what you are looking for. Also, some screw together, the ones I show use magnets. Much easier to use then the screw sleeves.

Well, now I understand. I bought the packet today. Not a difficult trick to work. Yes, I think making a suitable pair of gaffs is doable if in dire need, but a lot more work than a regular DF or even diagonal cut double suit. I guess I better take good care of these.

I keep my gaffs in card wallets (with all the cards together, they stay flat and fresh) at the moment (and some in similar sleeves that you've shown), so I can agree that this is the best way to go. I somehow came across a water proof plastic deck of cards that had a case with them that I store my Sander's Tagged gimmicks in (3 of them) to keep them from being bent and torn while in my storage box. I used to play Magic: The gathering, so I have some old storage from that left around. I also use plexi-glass and clamps if they get bowed a bit much (same set up I use for splitting) and it keeps them going. I still haven't received my MR/JW trick yet (ordered a week ago today straight from MagicLab, so hoepfully beginning of this week). Thanks for the helpful advice, take care! |

Anyone else wait a long time for this trick? It's been about 3 weeks (ordered from Magiclab)?

Demon,
I would contact them, this is an issue with the Dealer. Never heard of Magiclab, but if you looking to buy online in the future, try http://www.williamsmagic.com/ They are a brick and mortar store, with Internet access, and they are great folks. I can't even find Magiclab online on Google. So no help there.

MagicLab is Gordon's company--they're the guys that make the trick. The logo is right there on the instructions. They should deliver in atimely manner, since it their name on the product!
