Just curious, is the actual number named and that card is counted to, or is it one of those where it may not be the actual number named? (See the latest dvd of Reel Magic Magazine--David Regal)

The routine is such that you really use the number called. (I mean unlike other routines where there could be a suspicion from the spectator's part, here there isn't).

I just got mine on Monday and after reading through the instructions a few times I feel confident that I can perform this seamlessly. As a matter of fact, I have a show in one week that I am going to use it in. I'll let you know how it turns out. It is brilliant! Arthur |

I purchased the chest recently and have had an opportunity to perform it with good results.
For those that are interested, I have reworked the setup to virtually eliminate any "face-up" requirements. Those who have the chest will know what I mean, and can PM me for this set-up if interested......there is a compromise required, but I find this more palatable. Also in a prior post on 26 February 2009 Eric Samuels said "The only thing that might strike some as a negative, is the unusual nature of a box suspended from chains. I think it's all an issue of presentation and storytelling; it should be quite easy to explain that this is a way to ensure the contents are in full view and no 'dirty business' can possibly be done with the box hanging from your finger". Again for those who have this item, I can recommend a approx. $10 "upgrade" to solve this "problem." For an example, see the link below. http://www.finehomedisplays.com/proddetail.asp?prod=478brd With this everything makes sense. There are many other places to get a similar item so shop around. "I have reworked the setup to virtually eliminate any "face-up" requirements. Those who have the chest will know what I mean, and can PM me for this set-up if interested......there is a compromise required, but I find this more palatable." I now have an additional alternative set-up that completely eliminates the "face-up" requirements. Again, for those who already have the box and are interested....... Joe |

Over the last few weeks, I have put together a set on notes in a pdf format which I hope will help folks in their use of the box. The notes contain work on the set-ups which allow for elimination of face-up counting and some recent ideas that virtually eliminate having to remember certain things to achieve a successful result.
Those that are interested and own the box are welcome to the notes. I want to ensure that I am sending the notes to owners of the box. My best attempt at this is to ask you to tell me the three names on the top left of the instructions for the box. Instructions translated by ...... Edited and rewritten by ........ Special thanks to ........who helped blah blah I will then be glad to send you the pdf if you give me your email, or I will paste in what I can in a PM. Either way. respectfully, Joe |

Very interesting, but I'm wondering if this is overpriced. I collect wooden magic too. This is the sort of stuff you would find at martinsmagic website. And usually at these prices, you get some sort of mechanical marvel. So if it's ungimmicked.. may I ask if there is any palming, switching, ditching, etc.?

There is no palming, switching, or ditching. In fact, depending on how you handle the prediction card, there is nothing covert going on at all for the spectators to sense.
I know it sounds too perfect, but the method is carried out right in the open. In other words, the dirty work (if you can call it that) is completely hidden within the natural way the box is handled. There is nothing for anyone to see. Is it overpriced? I would say yes, if you are talking about the value of the props themselves. But if you are talking about the value of the magic and the effect on the spectators, then for me it is not overpriced. Hope this helps. JD |

Here's my million dollar question. When the spectator counts to his thought of number, say 27... Will he be able to turn that exact 27th card face-up immediately? Or, will he be instructed to leave the card face down for a moment while the magician continues with a little more patter and presentation.
If someone can answer YES to that, then I'm buying this immediately. However, if NO, I may still consider this if you can assure me that the force card is not added on by something stupid like resting the chest on top of the pile. Haha... This can't be it, right? This would go against all the hype of it being diabolical and ingenious. |

What do you mean? Of course he can immediately turn the card over.
