It's in my top 5 reference books of all-time!
Wish I could get the 20 additional routines but I can't pay $68 for them. |

The book is genius. For the serious bizarrist, it is required reading.
Beware of this and that.

Thank you for the head's up.
Jim is one of the most creative people in the field and I own most everything he has released (two exceptions, Entertaining with Horror which I have not been able to find, and his Ouija book, Tales from the Talking Board) which vanished from my shelves). I was on the waiting list for the first edition of AOBM, and it is one of my favorite resources. In fact, this book saved my sanity (or what little of it that is left). There were these neighbors who always dropped by to say hello and would never leave. I don’t know if I was their Wednesday night stop for mooching or not, but they came each and every week and would not leave until late, until… I used a piece from Jim’s book. Not only did the couple stop coming over, they moved out of the neighborhood. So, if Jim is re-releasing this classic (and it is a classic) and has added more to it, how could I not order it. Thank you Jim Tony |

As many of you know Jim Magus has been plodding along on a redo of Arcana of Bizarre Magick for around two years. Well, he finally got it completed. I’d like to say it’s because I bugged him about slowness but he was determined to really update it as well as add new bonus material. That process takes time. (I sure found that out personally on Bigger Book of BOO!)
So, after I returned to the hidden forest on Feb.2nd, here was an email from Jim that a package was on the way. The package was a final proof copy of Arcana of Bizarre Magick for comment. Boy is it fun to compare the “original” and the new improved version. Not only is it easy on the eyes from the typeface and font size but plenty has been clarified and updated with notes. Jim has gone out of the way to really try and establish the thread of creators for any given effect. That alone should answer a lot of questions that come up from time to time. The “bonus” stuff lives up to the rest and, yes, this stuff is practical. So, the two year wait has really been worth it. Every library needs a copy for several reasons, effects, history and just plain entertainment. Bare bones: 310 pages, perfect softbound, 8 1/2 x 11 size. Order direct from Jim via PayPal to jimmagus@comcast.net, before March 31st, he'll include a copy of Mysteries of the Runes or Turn of a Friendly Card, your choice. It's $60 plus $8 shipping. (He really blew me away when he told me he had copies of these little jewels stashed!) Or at lulu: http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fStoreID=647634 So get your order in … the only difference between your copy and mine is you get a spooky black cover and mine is white, but then again, what are friends for if not to say the darn cover color needs to be changed. Lary/TEB3/and Traveler loved it too |

...why so many toys? So many glittering wonderful evil toys.... And I, but a foolish amateur bizzarist do not know how to nagivate this minefield of delightful nastiness. But, since it comes so highly recommanded from so many people I have come to trust and admire, I will most certainly purchase this work.

All:
I agree that this is a wonderful book and MUCH enlarged and updated. Even if you have the original, you will want the updated version. It probably would have been out sooner, but I was one of the proofreaders/editors and let's say that proofing a 300+ book is no minor feat. Poor Jim had to re-type the whole thing, as the original document was destroyed. This book contains some really great stuff! There is one newly added routine that I recommended to Jim that he ought to release on its own, as it is just too good to put in this already excellent tome. Do yourself a favor and buy it. I think the original version was $80, if I remember correctly and contained much less material. OK, it was a hardcover book, but at $60 it is one of the best bargains out there for the Bizarrist. I doubt it. I had already gone through placing the order and had my finger on the final "pay" button, and then I remembered the bonus book.
The bonus book is...uh...like a bonus or something. Right? I like bonuses. The more the better. |
