This is really good. The guy with long Brown Hair Mike lives near me in Worchester Mass., and he too has only done it two years and already has run into stuff. VERY, very informative, Ed, (Eddini), C.H.

You mean the guy who refered to crying when a cop pulls them over as an "ab reaction"?

Yes crying if it's not tears of joy, panic, rage...etc, are examples of abreaction, you know that. Oh know the guy with the long hair Michael Grady from Worchester, Mass. We're myspace buds and have talked. My question, though I think Tom is a Top in his field why he still did the show and didn't move the tables. **** I would've. Falling backwards in a chair 3 feet off the stage....yeah not good. Like he said egos got in the way and I think his too a little. Ultimately it's up to the Hypnotist to make sure everything is tip shape. Also my favorite routine The Invisible Hypnotist, I find most don't word it right like though this will baffle and amuse you, you won't feel scared or freaked out, but amazed and might even find it funny. That's just me, Ed, (Eddini), C.H.
P.S. Michael has a couple awesome youtube clips. Actually here is Michael at work, you saw him as a student, now see him at work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2Ly4SMriMg

I admit I know next to nothing about hypnotism. I am fascinated by it but I am still uneducated. But listening to these guys talk about problems they have run across in controlled circumstances.... wow. It amazes me that folks can hear these things and still think so called "street hypnosis" is a good idea. Correct me if I am wrong, but is it not true, the less control you have over the surroundings the more likely something will go wrong?
I would definitely agree with Eddini, in regards to the show with the improperly set up stage. I don't care what type of work you are doing, if the conditions are likely to lead to someone getting hurt you are responsible for saying "nope, Im not doing it". Not trying to judge the guy, I wasn't there I don't know the whole story. |

How is that? Seriously Danny I want to know and you know your stuff. I know also I canbe people regressing as well. I'm just saying what I've read was a abreaction. Like me, I'm terrified of snakes and they did a positive hallucination of snakes, and I stodd on my chair panicing and hyper-ventilation, to ME at least that would be a abreaction. Thanks Danny, Ed, (Eddini), C.H.

Ed, if someone cries at a sad movie by your definiton this is an "abreaction" and that is not true.
Crying when a cop pulls you over to get out of the ticket is not an example of an "abreaction". The "ab" is for "abnormal" I think. These are examples of NORMAL REACTIONS.

Wow I'm EXTREMELY surprised this thread isn't on page 3 by now. I though this would bring in lots of feedback, Tom's teaching methods, his anger toward the NHG, how people acted...wow. Ed, (Eddini), C.H.

I also agree with Tom's comments that they are idiots. So, now, you have the most widely known hypnosis training organization in the world with a couple of big shot hypnotist idiots training a bucket load of hypno-punks who are going out performing half-assed shows, stabbing each other in the back as they compete for the bottome end of the pay scale, dragging the entire profession down with them. Since JV has been offering his NGH sanctioned hypno-punk weekend training courses, the stage hypnosis profession has been in a death spiral. Instead of being a truly novel, respected and unique art, stage hypnosis is quickly becoming the joke of the entertainment industry. It takes more than a weekend to teach the fine art of stage hypnosis. It is better taught as a mentoring program or on a consultancy type basis, I'm my view. JV has done NOTHING to improve the state of the profession. He has only exploited his celebrity (which he has the right to do) and the hypnosis medium (which he should NOT have the right to do) with his short term interest in lining his own pockets with money from unsuspecting fools with stars in their eyes. Nothing JV or his cohorts have demonstrated to me have shown any real interest in the long term integrity of the stage hypnosis profession. How does dumping dozens of poorly trained hypno-punks on the streets every year benefit the profession?? How does having a poorly trained, no talent, no experience hypno-punk on every street corner benefit the profession or other professionals in the industry? I would say that 90 percent of the comedy hypnosis clips I've viewed on YouTube demonstrate a complete and utter lack of stage awareness and complete lack of any demonstrable entertainment experience, including the clip provided earlier in this thread. While Michael might be a very nice young man, it is painfully obvious to me that he has little to boast about where stage awareness or professionalism are concerned. His manor of dress even demonstrates that he, himself, has no respect for what he does. He treats doing a public stage performance like going to freakin' convenience store. You treat something special like it's special. If you want others to appreciate and respect what you do, you demonstrate the same to others. Michael doesn't to that, and his video is considerably less than "awesome," in my view. I mean no disrespect to Michael, because I believe he would like to be taken seriously as a performer. But, until he takes the special art of stage hypnosis more seriously, he will just be another hypno-punk, in my view. It takes more than knowing how to hypnotize someone to make a good stage hypnotist. It takes more than a few good skits, or a rapid induction. A little experience in something other than a high school play would be very helpful. I am amazed at how little most hypnotist seem to know about what makes for good stage. It's like the American Idol TV show. You know, how some of the fools are so convinced that they can sing, only to be told, perhaps for the first time in their life, that they couldn't carry a tune in a potato sack? And, this may not be the appropriate thread for this comment. But, because it was a topic in the video about stage safety, I will say that I think it is a wise idea to have the chairs connected or strapped together during a show. That way, if one person is doing something that could cause his/her chair to flip over backwards, it is likely that the chairs on either side will keep it from flipping over. I see it as a safety precaution, not a liability. Whew! My fingers have been busy this today... |
