Hello,
We are working on a rope magic project right now which requires translating an English document about rope magic into Spanish. I am looking for someone who A- speaks, reads and understands both English AND Spanish & B- has a basic knowledge of rope magic and magic terminology in both languages. We need someone to either look at the translation being provided for us via soft ware translation and edit it to make it correct... or simply do the translation if that is easier. Since I don't speak or write spanish, I really have no clue if the translation software is even capable of doing a remotely passable job. PM me and we can talk about how much work it would be, if you have the time, interest and about compensation. Dean

Lets assume that you are not entering new territory and perhaps some of your work is already translated. Try or contact.
http://www.bazardemagia.com/ Now, in an attempt to enter or accomodate the Hispanic market, I translated my website into Spanish using the online translators. http://www.mago.us I also have French and Italian translations and was told to give the English site link so that any problems could be explained in English. The problem with that, is that the translations are usually too literate, does not use enough idioms, and magic descriptions are already too cryptic in English to be translated to Spanish. But, as you said, you could start there and edit and correct it. Its hard to believe that there isn't someone with 100' of where you are who couldn't do the job for you. Since you have to describe an effect to someone who is learning the effects for the first time, the language should be as plain as possible. There are translation services, but, just go to your local high school or college and supplement the best students income or teacher's salary with a little extra work. Of course, even Spanish has the same arguements that the English language has. The United States and England are two countries separated by a common language. Now if you need help with the rope project itself, I'm your man.

Where are you located? Martin Kaplan lives here in the L.A. area and he is a language professor, magician, that teaches Spanish.

Dean:
I speak, read and write in both languages; also I do rope magic and have knowledge on IT (former engineer). If the document is not too big then I can help you. Or maybe to validate and double check the final document. PM 2 me if interested. |
