My sweetie and I enjoy watching old movies. Recently we saw Charlie Chan At Treasure Island:
http://www.amazon.com/Charlie-Collection......2&sr=8-1 I think many of the rest of you might enjoy it too. It features a magician, who has a female mind reader as part of his act, and pits Charlie against a "quack" psychic. There are even a few revelations!!! Cheers ....... Charles |

Ventriloquist Corky Fats finally gets the chance to make it big when his agent offers him a lucrative television deal. But Corky turns him down. Choosing instead to return to his boyhood home in the Catskills. There he is reunited with his childhood sweetheart, and meets her jealous husband. But things take a wicked turn when Corky's demonic dummy gets into the act. Soon its hard to tell who's the puppet and who's pulling the strings. [More] Starring: Ann-Margret, Ed Lauter Note there is no mention of Anthony Hopkins. So I do not think this is the one you were talking about. Cheers ..... Charles |

I was fortunate enough to see the Czech film, "Hanussen."
It was interesting, but as in the case of an earlier film, "Black Magic" (Orson Welles as Count Cagliostro), the main character's abilities are painted entirely as a 'natural knack at hypnotism.'

Anthony Hopkins is a big admirer of Tommy Cooper in fact, and he even came and gave a speech when they erected a statue in Tommy's honour in his local town. He does very good impressions of him too. I find that strange actually - a lot of the best "old school" actors are also excellent mimincs...

MAGIC was a classic.
Bob Cassidy had a terrific write up about Ann Margret being seduced by Do As I Do in MAGIC in Principia Mentalia. It struck a chord with me and to this day I have a soft spot for Do As I Do!! As it did with Bob then. Cheers. Tom |
