I just got my first shell (Half Dollar - Johnson) and I planned on getting Shellraiser as a learning resource. However someone told me that Shellraiser is meant for real beginners. Now, I am no beginner regarding slight of hand with coins, but all I can do with a she** right now is a coins across I made up.
So for an intermediate coin worker, but beginner she** worker which DVD would you recommend? Would the WGM DVD be better? Thanks, Uriel

The more learned coin experts here will give you the best advice, but I really like the Dean Dill, Extreme Dean Vols. 1 and 2, as well as the Expanded She**s, mentioned above.

I think he has discontinued ordering products from the site, excluding those who have outstanding orders.
Modern Coin Magic of course has a chapter on sh***s, with fifteen or so tricks. I don't know if you're looking for something more advanced than that, though. |

Yeah I saw that section in BOBO, but was looking for material other than the classics. IE: coins across, coins through table, etc.

There's an old video, now on DVD, called "Shell Shocked" by Barry Taylor that has some good ideas on it.

I remember it. Barry was giving some good advice on reducing the tin sound of the shells against silver coins and many other practical ideas

Got the DVD (Shell Shocked) this week.
I like it. Not only because of the many routines but you also get plenty of ideas how to handle the shell. Good advice gentlemen, thanks. Torstein |

Shell Shocked is an EXCELLENT DVD! Glad you went with it. I highly recommend it to anyone else wanting to "Expand" their shell work or for beginners. I was new to coin magic when I first bought this and I was able to do very well with it.
Barry shows you from 3 various angles on how to do the effects including over the shoulder. The effects range from beginner to advanced. Even has an effect using an okito box which I love! And if you're ever in the area (D.C. area) you HAVE to stop by Barry's shop. Barry (and his staff) would be more than happy to show you in person ideas, tips, advice... or you can even play hockey with "Frankie". All kinds of magicians hang out there and discuss/perform magic. I have learned a ton from them alone! Whenever I go, my wife gets upset that I'm gone for so long until I remind her it's better than me going to a bar or ??? Mike Newman |

Thank You Joseph.
Another DVD to have ideas for using the shell is very simply the essential David Roth Expert Coin Magic or the excellent New York Coin Magic Seminar or the very good Salinas DVDs on Bobo All three contain more than we will ever perform with a shell. The series of DVD by Curtis Kam (and his friends Reed McLintock and Kainoa Harbottle) is fascinating for any worker wanting to get further. Mike Gallo is one of my preferred performer for his technical mastery isn't even felt. Now Homer Liwag Coin One is also very interesting. I find Joe Rindfleisch extremely creative and love his very smart ideas so much the more that his (IMHO) dull presentations keep magicians away from his brilliant routines, making him a very precious source for showmen with better script and acting capacities. If you can use a table, don't forget to check Dean Dill (with two shells in some of his early work and only one later) he really is Mr Clean; also look at Doug Conn, Bobby Bernard, Mark Leveridge, Marc DeSouza...
