Hey Guys,
I'm about to purchase a gold watch soon, and I was wondering if you can help me with negotiations. I've been to the store before, the manager knows me, and she gives me good deals. The watch I want to get is 3,800. I'm trading in one of my bracelets, which is worth $1,400, so she took 3,800-1,400, which brings it down to 2,400 for the watch, but I was wondering if there's anything else I can do to get the price a bit lowered, say $2,000, or even less, how can I do that? Tell her that's all you've got, and believe it when you say it.
It's dishonest, but no more so than the mark up on watches. Ring a pawnbrokers and ask what they'd give you for said watch in excellent condition. Find out what it's really worth. Destiny |

A $1400 bracelet? A $3800 watch? I'm not kidding here but why?
I've purchased, when I had money, nice jewelery for my wife and paid a few grand for it but for a guy? What da @#$@? I say anyone who is willing to have a $1400 bracelet and for some reason want a watch like that should just pay full price. |

I understand what you're saying, but if I can get a deal, which I'm sure I can, then why not bring the price a bit lower? If it's possible to pay a lower price, then why not do that?

PM me the brand etc and I'll call my brother in law. He owns a jewelery store and sells watches (interestingly he gets lot of stuff from Canada, he's big into that fossilized snail shell out of Canada) and I'll see what price he'd attach to it.
I am wearing exactly zippo jewelery at the moment, of course when I go out I wear, well, are eye glasses considered jewelery? |

With computers and cell phones, why even wear a watch?

My wife bought me a watch. She was tired of me flipping open my cell phone every ten minutes to see what time it was.

I quit wearing a watch because I noticed when I was working and one of my crew came up I'd look at my watch and I felt that it made them think I was timing them. I figured now that I don't even pay attention to what day it is why look at the time?

If you're Elvis, jewelry is great for the part., But for regular guys, why?

I wear a nice watch and a magician's "M" ring when I get dressed up or performing. The second I'm in the house, it comes off. The look great, but I can't stand it, I'm always fiddling with it.

I wear a Rolex and a gold signet ring on my right pinkie.
But I also wear boxer shorts and the reading glasses I always wear cost me less than three bucks. I am a man of mixed morals. |

There are many reasons to wear a watch other than knowing what time it is. For me, my watch acts as an anchor point for something magical without some one asking me why I have something around my wrist.
Good watches like Omega, Rolex and others are good investments as long as you buy them second hand and have done enough research to keep from getting ripped off or know some one that is an expert to help you.

I hope the fellow is of color. There is nothing dumber looking that a white guy with 'bling bling'. The ones who wear the chains with giant links should have those links attached to cinder blocks and sent to sea. The other thing is the watches that hang loose, even looks worse than those who can't put a cap on right.

I wasn't referring to when folks perform. Wearing what's appropriate to your character is the way to go.
I saw Harrison Ford on TV recently and he had an earing. I don't think he looked good with it. Where I grew up, gys that were "connected" wore jewelry. It seemed to go with the part which is a 24/7 part. Maybe magic is also and I should get on board with the jewelry. I don't think I'd know what to get. What a great watch ( I don't think I could afford a Rolex )?

I think a Rolex is a pretty ugly watch, at least the big ones. We use to buy knock offs in Africa, three for five bucks (they would also spread a rumor that a crate of real Rolexes was stolen and you might find one) and we would go to bars and find some helpful soul willing to purchase one for a hundred bucks so we could pay our rent.

A Rolex Oyster Perpetual wrist watch is a classic like a Gull wing Mercedes both are things of beauty and utility.

You can get a rolex in Juarez for less than $30 and they swear it is real gold.

Remember that most REAL Jewelry has a Mark-Up of 300%. So you should be able to take her down to $ 1600.00 and that should be a fair price.
