The real reason this guy got that award is because he tricks people. Everyone knows that knife throwers don't really throw knives. There's a gimmick that causes the knife to come out from the back of the board. Everyone knows that. They get those gimmicked boards from the same place that makes the collapsible swords that all sword swallowers use.

I saw it on that masked magician show.

Do you have that address, I need some cold fire.

If to qualify for the Merlin you have to "trick people" I know a few used car salesman and mortgage brokers, politicians, and lawyers I'd like to nominate.

Well done Throwdini!

However, it shows how lame magic has become. Too many look-a-like magicians with the same old tricks and routines.

Maybe the masked magician had a point.

And now the Great Throwdini has made the front page of the prestigious The Wall Street Journal. I don't know you Throw, but as a native and ex Noo Yawka, I congratulate and tip my hat to you. I eagerly await your publicized event. Best, Bob
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about? Smile

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums.

Besides FISM, this is one of the highest awards in magic. The Merlin award is to magic what the academy award is to motion pictures.

Says who? The guy who hands them out and sells teaching DVDs? Even if it was, then why give it to someone who is not a magician? Eric Clapton is one of the greatest guitar players on the planet, but I really don't think he deserves an Oscar. It's been said before and it'll be said again that this award is totally bogus. Nothing against Throwdini or any other winner.
