Hey guys-
I am horribly mathematically challenged to the point where I can't even work a calculator, apparently. I have entered a number in memory, and I can't get it out. I want the "M" on the display gone. Help? Thanks, JD |

There is a function button which clears the memory. I don't have a calc. in front of me but it might be a button like MC to clear the memory.

Thanks Larry, that's what I figured, but this calc only has an "M plus" and an "MR" button. Still can't figure it out.

If it's got a shift button, try shift then m+ or maybe shift then MR, also sometimes just enter 0 then m+ or occasionally shift and the AC (cancel) button. If all that fails, try the old IT solutions "turn it off then back on again".

Figured it out, but don't know how.
Thanks everyone. JD |

Generally such a calculator treats a zero in memory as equivalent to the memory being cleared. If so, simply hit MR (recalling what's in the memory), +/- (to change the sign from + to - or vice-versa), and, finally, M plus (to add to the memory the negative of what's in the memory); voilá: memory's cleared!
(If the calculator doesn't have a +/- button, then multiply the value from MR by -1; it does the same thing.) |
